OT: Why Wal-Mart is evil |
The day before I evacuated, before Katrina grew to such power that I
decided I wasn't staying after all, I was stocking up on canned goods,
bottled water, the usual.
By 6 in the evening, Saturday, when everybody in town was trying to get
their last minute supplies, Wal-Mart shut down and turned us all away.
Today, while I was waiting in line to get into the pharmacy to pick up a
prescription (they're only letting about a half dozen in at a time), a
Wal-Mart employee told me they are STILL CLOSED.
The Winn-Dixie had *three* 18 wheelers pull up while I was in line (and it
wasn't all *that long a wait) to stock up on food and supplies for our
community. Wal-Mart is shut up tight.
I want them out of my town. They turned their backs on us in a crisis, I
want them out. At the very least, I will ***NEVER*** set foot in a
Wal-Mart again.

That's your right as an individual, but to call what they did
evil is to presume that they have to be open. They don't.
But if they want to make the customers happy, they should
attempt to do so.

If they don't want to be part of our community, they can damn well *leave.

Every small town that WalMart has ever invaded has had its local economy
gutted.
