Object: OT: Zen and the Art of Killfile Maintenance
After praying to the bodhisattva of Internet oblivion, I updated the
old killfile to include Andrew Chung and all posts in response to him,
for a total of about 990 posts out of the 75,000 headers I typically
download, or over 1 percent of the group traffic. Creating another
filter for any posts where Chung is the subject netted another 400 or
so posts. Despite a relatively small waste of bandwidth
percentage-wise, getting rid of Chung-related threads has made it
considerably easier to read my article list and find the good stuff. I
am almost tempted to do the Duke but some of the responses to him are
just too hilarious to miss, so I will stay his execution for the
moment.
Aaaaaaah, I feel so enlightened now.

I still have people like Bloatwhore and Zoner in my killfile.

Boaty I know, but Zoner must have been before my time. Most of the
folks in my killfile have moved on to greener pastures.

I think Zoner last posted here about 9 years ago.

Wow! Boaty I know well, but "Zoner" is just a legend to me, and I've
been here since '96. Did you have the good fortune to encounter Brice
Wellington?

Zoner was another of the loonies - he also posted as Todd Benzer.
Brice was a loonie who claimed he had tested his daughters' virginity
by examining their hymens himself.
One of the biggest loonies was Michael Courtney who claimed he was a
prophet, talking about the Queen of Heaven, Dragons from the East
ripping open the bellies of pregnant American women etc. An A1 loonie.

I'm not sure I would have put a prize specimen like this in my
killfile...at least not right away :)

I've been known to parole the occasional offender, but Boatwright will
remain in my killfile 'till the heat death of the universe.
