I can't watch it. Does it involve the Oregon State Highways &

Yes, that is exactly what it involves. What a (silly) mess!

This film is a great lesson to those who talk about using nuclear
missiles to get rid of an oncoming asteroid.

I've never understood this. All that will happen is that instead of a
single asteroid, there will be fragments all coming the same way. The
last thing you want to do is split it into multiple pieces that all
need to be diverted. The correct way would be to add a source of
enough reaction mass to steer it sufficiently off-course to miss us
even if it enters our gravity well. However it is pretty massive and
travelling at a large velocity.

Dave Barry (humor columnist) wrote about this right after it was done.
Someone is the area had sent him a video of the news that night, and he
called it "the most wonderful video in the history of the universe".
His write-up was awfully funny, too.

Blaster Bates is/was a British raconteur and popular guest speaker at
formal dinners. As his name suggests, he used explosives for
demolition. One of his stories was about demolishing a pig-sty with a
large and full slurry pit.....

Dave Barry has a theory that there are three genders, women, men and
guys. He even provides a little chart for how to tell the difference
between men & guys. One of the preferred activities of any real guy is
blowing things up. I think Blaster Bates easily falls into the "Real
Guy" category.
