Hey, Mike...........There are some comics who may already know
this, some who don't - but - what's really funny is when a person who
is not a very good singer tries to sing as well as he can. That's why
I didn't like Bill Murray's thing on SNL. He was afraid to go all the
way. I could see it. Most comics (like most people), are insecure.
It takes a certain amount of guts to make an absolute fool of yourself.
But it's truly funny when you succeed. It's definitely funnier when
you don't try to be funny.............. Try to sing as well as you
can, and be prepared to allow your failure in this regard to gain you
fame and fortune as a truly funny person. This takes a certain amount
of guts. It's like the actor who plays the role of bigot and
over-plays it on purpose because he's afraid it might look too real and
people might think he really is a bigot. Same thing with the singing.
If you're not a really good singer, just try as best you can to sing,
forget about being funny, and guaranteed, it will be funny. But it
takes a certain amount of guts to do this, as you may already know.

I'd love to name a few, Ollie, but I want to do it in song. I
want to sing their names. But I don't have that capacity on my
computer right now. I think that would make a great hit song, by the
way. But I want to talk about another song idea I had years ago. Here
it is.
A really stupid dance beat starts the song out, then a guy with a
methodical voice begins to slowly chant the names of famous dead people
over the beat, including so many famous dead people that there will be
something in there for everybody. This is good salesmanship.
Like, you've got that stupid dance beat going and then the guy's
voice comes in with........"John Fitzgerald Kennedy"..........a few
more beats, then......"Martin Luther King Jr"...........then, "Robert
F=2E Kennedy"......and so on, just naming a bunch of famous dead people
in a methodical and serious voice. The same could be done with cities,
including enough cities so that everyone in America will be
represented.
A lively dance beat starts it out, then the guy's voice
methodically begins to announce the cities......"Chicago" (ba boom, ba
boom)......"Los Angeles".......(ba boom ba, ba boom ba)............
"Philadelphia".......ba ba boom ba, ba ba boom ba)..........and then he
begins to put a few lesser known cities in there as well, so that
ultimately nearly everyone in America is included and represented in
the 'song'. I have the perfect voice for just such a recording. It
would be a hit. I know it.

different. It's a sexual dance beat, but the guy's voice is methodical
and nearly without emotion, poetical in a way. One day I'll show you
what I mean. But first I'll have to kidnap a few musicians and force
them to back me as I recite the masterpiece just for you.
