Our God the brown skin carpenter |
Our God the brown skin carpenter
Just a question, if Jesus was a carpenter, where are the items he made?
Why isn't there any furniture he made?
Where did the wood for Jesus's carpentry come from?
Cursed fig trees?
If the spear that was thrust into Jesus' side grants the possessor
power to rule the world, and a cup that he drank out of grants eternal
life (or whatever the grail supposedly does) what does a credenza made
by Gods' own hands do?

From that arc of the covenant.
That's how the arc was lost.

Moses was not real and Christ probably wasn't either.
As for being a carpenter, there is some question about that. The word used
(once) in the bible can be carpenter or craftsman.

Not a chance.... I mean, if God was a builder in the beginning the
word would have been "it'll be about 7 weeks, if I can get the parts,
and I've got other jobs on as well you know...".

You mean you've never seen the Holy Pipe Rack?
What about the Sacred Coffee Table and the Jerusalem Medicine Cabinet?
See??
The PROOF is right there befiore your eyes and you choose to ignore it!!
Seriously though, this puts me in mind of a visit to Rome I once made and
was amazed by the silliness of some of the things I was supposed to believe
were Holy Relics - pieces of the Holy Cross, the chains St Peter was bound
in, etc...
The place was full of them -although I do believe the RC church feel a
little embarassed about these relics now and play them down a bit.

Don't know you're own religion very well, do you duke?
The relics of the cross are held amongst other places (there are parts of it
all over the world) in the Church of the Holy Cross, Rome and the chains
that alllegedly bound St Peter are held in a second church which Roman
Catholics are supposed to visit during a Holy Year, or Anno Santos.
That particular church is known as St Pietro in Vincoli.
I visited it during Anno Santos in 1975
What I actually bought from a street vendor that time was a huge wooden
rosary set, about 8 feet long altogether.
Very tasteful - I even had them blessed by the Pope himself.
Have you made your Rome pilgrimage yet?
All good little catholics are supposed to make the effort, especially during
a Holy Year.
You should go - it's a real eye opener.
You get to see what the catholic church is really all about, unless you go
around with your eyes closed, of course.
I would recommend a visit to the Ossuary, or bone chamber, if you can swing
it - it's not normally open to the public.
It's where they put all of the dodgy priests - the ones they couldn't bury
in consecrated ground.
Ask the Capuchin monks to show you the bones of the Borgia popes, or maybe
the remnants of Pope Joan.
And before you start claiming that Pope Joan didn't exist, or that Pope Joan
wasn't found out when she went into labour at the Vatican - ask them why an
incoming pope is checked for testicles.
After the Pope Joan debacle, the Roman Church stipulated that anyone elected
Pope should prove that his genitalia were intact. To this end a special
chair was fashioned that had a horseshoe-shaped seat. The Pope to be would
sit on the seat and the cardinals would pass by, checking the papal
procession and proclaiming: 'testiculos habet et bene pendentes'. A loose
translation being: 'testicles he has and well-hung ones'.

Oh yes - I forgot about that other piece of Catholic silliness, actually
endorsed by The RC Church.
That's right - The Holy Foreskin or Holy Prepuce, once claimed by the Holy
Roman Church to have miraculous powers.
Stands to reason, doesn't it?
Jesus was a jew - he had to be circumcised, and you wouldn't want to throw a

So, you are religious because you are selfish? Only care about
yourself, do you?
Hm. I wonder. What circle do the selfish inhabit again...?
Remember, Jesus (if he existed) died for what he believed in. He was
willing to have a crown of thorns hammered onto his head. He was
willing to be scourged. He was willing to drag his eventual
death-device through the streets, while people threw rocks at him, only
to have iron spikes jammed through his extremities, then lifted up to be
hung on those iron spikes, die on the cross, and have a spear jammed
through his torso.
Was the price too painful for Jesus?

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet duke (duckgumbo32@cox.net)

Yeah, I can use some help. Are you good with a paint roller?
Paint won't stick in hell.
How do you know, you've been there?
Too hot. You won't need to paint at all much less get help.
What if you use this kind of paint?

Only if he's trying to paint his engine.

I dunno. I just checked the wheather, and saw that it'll be 91F on
Thursday and a balmy 66F at night, over in Hell.
Don't believe me?

91F is a bit hot for me, but by the end of September, it should be in
the low 80s.
I believe paint can survive in such temperatures.

That's what it tells you but ou ignore the advice:
How so? You atheists need help in the worst way.

I've seen pictures. There is a railing in the park there at the Valley
of Hinnom that is brown and has little flecks of silver. Obviously, it
is paint flecking off of a metal bar. So, duke is right! Paint won't
stick in Hell forever! But a lot of it was still sticking to the bar,
at least check. ;-)
