Pagan faith based groups |

I haven't run into a pagan faith-based group yet, much less
a pagan group that cares for the poor! Once you make it
clear to any applicant that public money must go to public
purposes and can't be used to promote ideology, the fringe
groups lose interest. Helping the poor is tough work and only
those with loving hearts seem drawn to it.

In such situations I usually say "That's nice of you. Now answer the
question."

When I was an active Wiccan, the circle I was with worked extensively with
local charity groups. At our weekly get-togethers, a collection of money and
canned goods was taken up, to benefit different groups every month.
The issue is that there are far fewer pagans than there are Christians. Most
Christian-based charities don't give a rat's ***** about the religion of the
volunteer or contributor as long as the people being served are helped. The
irony is that at most honest Christian charities (those that serve the needy
rather than preach), you are far more likely to find Pagans, Buddhists, Jews,
Atheists and pretty much anyone BUT Christians doing the real work.

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the
bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is
tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists
for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger."
