Object: Pardon my language, but...
OMFG! I'm on vacation for two weeks, and I come back to find 21,916
messages in alt.atheism. Don't you guys ever shut up?!
So, what happened while I was gone? I want to hear all the juicy
details. ;-p

"It is necessary to the happiness of man that he be mentally faithful
to himself. Infidelity does not consist in believing, or in
disbelieving;
it consists in professing to believe what one does not believe. It is
impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that
mental lying has produced in society. When man has so far corrupted and
prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional
belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the
commission of every other crime." - Thomas Paine, "The Age of Reason"

It has been pretty much same-same. We got a new Duke-like person, but
only more angry, atrocious, bad, baneful, base, beastly, bitchy, execrable,
flagitious, foul, hateful, heinous, hideous, iniquitous, injurious,
loathsome, low, maleficent, malevolent, malicious, malignant, nefarious, no
good, offensive, pernicious, rancorous, reprobate, repugnant, repulsive,
revolting, spiteful, stinking, ugly, unpleasant, unpropitious, vicious,
vile, villainous, wrathful, and all out wrong.
( Please forgive my pasting and editing from a thesaurus, but they all
just fit so well.)
He has been honored with Twit status. He has also gone missing since
yesterday - as far as I can see.
(Some of us have reported him for abuse to his ISP.)
There is also the guy who bombs the group, ***** at Yang -
political stuff. I think he is from Boston.
There was a good thread about Mayberry. Had a good link to the Mayberry
set. ( Andy Griffith stuff. )
Anyway, hope you have had a good vacation, and welcome back,
David H. aa #2217

Yes, they do. Brazil nuts too. I found the trick though: freeze them and
then the shells will shatter without breaking up the nut inside.

Hmmmm, don't you think they smell a bit strongly of almonds? ;P

I was told that those are macadamias!

Nooo, I gave those to the squirrels at Christmas, remember? (Boy, I'm

still

paying for that!) ;)

Don't they cost like $200 a kilo over there?

I'm not sure, but they are expensive and my husband was PISSED! Oh well

:)

They are expensive enough over

here where they come from! But I'd love to see a squirrel try get

through

that bullet proof shell though!

Shell? What shell? Do they even sell them with the shell stll on? ;)

They have super thick, super hard shells that allow them to survive the
harsh conditions of the Australian bush. In nature they use bushfires to
crack the shell and continue the life cycle. I thought I'd be a smart *****
once and bought a kilo back of macadamias for 2 bucks...but they were still
in the shell. Took me a month to eat the fucking things smashing them open
with a marble paper weight!!

I've heard those nuts are one of the most, if not THE most, difficult nut to

with the shell still on. And I was trying to give the squirrels a treat -

The device used to open a macadamia is called a BONK...Bates Original Nut
Cracker! It's basically a vice made of battleship metal that you screw down
until the shell cracks....if you think you're getting through more than 6
nuts an hour, you're deluding yourself!

Small correction: it's cyanide that smells like almonds.
Arsenic doesn't smell.
