Object: Party Thread!: So, why are atheists so angry?
Inspired by JYoung's insipid diatribe of mid-August, now running about
720 replies long.
So, why are atheists so angry? How `bout a list of the good responses
you've ever given the morons who ask that question. I'll start with a
few of mine...
"Someone stole our parking space!"
"My doctor says we can't have coffee anymore!"
"Somebody stole our piece o'chicken!"
Anyone else?

Of course, now I have a dilemma because I just received the invitation to my
newest nephew's christening and I have long-standing plans for that
particular day to go to this belly dancing event where my teacher and her
troup will be dancing. Of course, my husband will be on his fall fishing
trip to Lake George, NY and won't be about to make it. If I do go to the
christening, I'll be pissed - If I don't go, the Catlicks will be pissed.
Hmmm, what to do, what to do :P

LOL. I love you guys :)
The husband came home from his Tahoe trip yesterday evening and I told him
that I had decided not to go. He doesn't have a problem with it - and I
only care about his opinion anyway :)
Not to mention that the mother of the baby being christened is one of the
two SILs I get along with and she's already told me that she doesn't have a
problem if I don't go.

pissed.
Hmmm, what to do, what to do :P

What debate? "Look, I've got something to do, and I'm not gonna give it
up just to watch your kid get a glorified bath, now am I?" :)

Right on. You've already made previous plans. That's all they
need to know. If they get nosey, tell them it's your business,
not theirs. Let them be pissed. They don't run your life.

Good for her and good for you! I love my extended family too, but my
life doesn't revolve around them. I have my own needs, my own prorities,
and my own preferences, and if they conflict with somebody else's, so be
it. Fortunately they are understanding.

I know. I had three spinster aunts who lived by themselves. They really
played the part. They went to church every day, they said the rosary
together every night, and I think they had pictures and statues of every
saint that ever was around their house. But they were real nice. They
gave us kids presents. They helped pay for our education, and in general
were very nice kindly people.
Then there were my other uncles and aunts. They were always lecturing us
kids on how bad we were, and telling us we needed to pray more, and how
we needed to go to Catholic schools. My one uncle was one of these
people who claimed to know everything and anyone who didn't agree was a
sinner, insane, or the worst thing in the world to him, a Communist.
(This was the '50s.} We couldn't stand the guy. Come to think of it, I
never saw him or his family in church. :-P
