Sounds like the author of this piece is too young understand what
blacklisting is, and too ignorant to realize that while the Catholic Church
has instigated many a pogrom against the Jews, the Jews have never once
instigated a pogrom against Catholics. Moreover, Mel Gibson _is_ a wacko
fundie Catholic, and his film focuses almost entirely on an event to which
the four gospels devote no more than 1% of their verses.

For which the majority of Christians specifiy is the fundamental occurence
in the New Testament upon which their dogma is founded - Christ's
crucifixion and resurrection. Those who refer to Christ's teachings and
works are ignoring an important point - many Christian religions insist that
living like Christ is not sufficient to be saved.
Calling Mel a 'whacko' also misses an important point, that alot of
Christians share his beliefs, and have dismissed many of the changes wrought
recently by the Catholic church.

More and more, time after time, the bias and agenda of the elite leftist
media are made obvious. But no matter how obvious, they will never admit
it, so we are very fortunate these days to have the internet, talk radio,
and a cable news channel or two to get the truth out. People who want the
truth can find it, and the people who don't want it, or can't recognize
it, will stick with the elite leftist media.

I'm hardly a Brian De Palma fan, but it's a shame he couldn't get a
crack at directing THE DA VINCI CODE. Just the sheer sacreligious
glee he would bring to it would be worth the price of admission--g!

Probably. IMO, the article is spot-on. Dan Brown is somehow seen as
visionary because he rehashed a bunch of occultic bullsh*t, tossed in
Opus Dei and the Catholic Church, and wrote a passable thriller around
all of it. The people who have raised their heads out of the sand and
are gushing over this book really aren't well-read or knowledgeable.
The Holy Grail=Jesus' bloodline nonsense has been around for
centuries. Dan Brown read the "source" material, but unfortunately
(based upon the interview of him that I saw), he suckered himself into
thinking that the mush that he was writing about and "researching"
actually might be true (if it is, we're all screwed, since it is based
around the conspiracy theory of [Western] history--- and The Masters
only continue to exert their grip around humanity and their isn't a
damn thing anyone can do about it).

'Owing to these fears, critics have gone to great lengths to label the movie
as inaccurate. But, according to critics, it is not just false, it is false
to the point of being delusional - one reviewer even referred to the movie
as "the wacky perspective of a wacko Catholic" (S.C.'s State). These
sentiments were later echoed by Andy Rooney, who also called Mel Gibson a
"wacko."'
Yes, well, that's the Roman Catholic Cult for you.

I'll preface this by saying that I have neither read the book nor seen
the movie (they are both on my "eventually" list of things to
read/watch). However, I would like to say that there seems to be a
difference between the two.
I have not heard any positive press about the movie from the Jewish
community, where the most concern seems to be coming from. However,
every Catholic I know that has read the book (only a small handful)
likes it and has strongly recommended it to me.
The article seems very concerned that The Da Vinci Code is dragging
down the Catholic church, but it seems to be more a matter of
perception caused by the media rather than the actual content of the
book. From what I've heard of "The Passion", however, the movie
itself incites anti-semitism.
Just my 2 cents.

Are there any instances of acts or expressions of anti-semitism that have
been blamed directly on someone having viewed the film? Barring such an
occurence, the statement 'the movie itself incites anti-semitism' is very
disputable.

Just my 2 cents.
