Object: Passive-aggressive, petty ***** bosses...
Background, first.
On Monday, I hopped into my work truck to make a delivery run. It was
foggy with moderate temperatures, so the cab of the truck quickly started
feeling sticky and uncomfortable (good old Florida).
I tried to turn the air conditioner on. Nope. Shrug. Roll down the
windows, make a note of it, and keep driving.
I left it alone the rest of the day, ignored it on Tuesday, and finally
got a test light from my car to check the fuse for the A/C system.
Fuse was gone.
I asked the store manager about this.
"You're going to have to drive with your windows down. I took the fuses
out of all the trucks to save on gas money."
There's no telling what his REAL reason for it was--I think he did it to
be a *****, and to exert some "control" over the rest of us. We just gave
him a "yeah, whatever" and replaced the fuses.
Same guy took the circuit breakers out of the store's A/C system to keep
anyone from trying to bring the temperature down below HOLY CRAP IT'S AN
OVEN IN HERE! (his boss got involved; the circuit breakers mysteriously
reappeared)
....took all the chairs and stools and locked them in storage to keep
anyone else from sitting down (but he sits in his office, smoking and
talking on his cell phone after pointing out no one's allowed to do that)
....left A/C filters, wire, trash, etc. scattered on the floor to see how
long it'll be before one of us picks it up for him ("this *****'s not
going to pick itself up, you know")
Who else here works with such a schmuck?

Well, that describes the ***** who fired me today.

What sort of driver were you (OTR, local parts delivery, etc)?

I drove for PODS

www.pods.com

We delivered/picked-up large storage containers (16x8x8 feet was
the larger of the two) using a patented lift system. We back into
place, spead the lift out, hook the pod up, raise the pod, drive
the truck out from under the suspended pod, lower the pod, unhook
it, then

drive

the lift (called Podzilla) back over the pod and put it back on
the truck. Hell of a lot of fun to play with.

I thought about trying to get hired by them, last year. In the

aftermath

of Ivan, my area's blanketed with POD people.

Argh! Science fiction!

I want a POD--but I don't have room for the damn thing, what with all
the crap I've got. ;p

You can get them for pennies per pound at the green-grocers.
I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Anyone'd think you'd never seen peas before...

Sounds more like it -could- be at least an NC-17, if you put the right spin on
it. :-)

on 23 Feb 2006 in alt.atheism, dear sweet Doc Smartass
(gekido@astroskivviesboymail.com) made the light shine upon us with
this:

Who else here works with such a schmuck?

Once upon an eon someone finished a TV music cue (copied the parts from
a score for the recording session) and inadvertently put it in the
drawer of his desk, forgetting about it. Turns out the composer had to
re-write the cue for the session. It was found in the drawer months
later.

My boss had all the drawers removed from the desks in the room.

His name wasn't John, was it?

I just don't understand how such people get into management. Is there a
passive-aggressive, petty ***** requirement?

Well, that describes the ***** who fired me today.

Ahhh *****. Amazing how common it is to have management folks who's
never had a lick of training.
