Pharma-Censors: Pushing back against the Pill Police |
My aunt is in nursing, but is thinking of going into pharmacy, because
all the psycho-fundy fuckhead pharmacists in her area refuse to dispense
contraception or plan B.
While that might be OK, if one wants that kind of career, it seems like
it shouldn't be necessary to go into pharmacy just to try to do something
about it. That got me thinking about what can be done to fight against
these pharmacist psychos.
I think the first thing we need to do is to have a name for these
assholes, since I'm not sure that there is a formal term for these folks,
other than dickheads, of course. Some of the labels I'm tentatively
proposing include:
Pharma-Censors
Dispenser Censor
Pharma-Psychos
Pharma-Fanatics
Pill Police
Med Shredders
Feel free to add your own here.
As to tactics, I say we should use the same approaches against these
pharmacists that anti-abort assholes use against doctors. Create
websites where the phone numbers and addresses of these refusenik
pharmacists are posted online. That way people from all over the country
and all over the world can call them at any hour and say what they think
about them. Or maybe people could help them out, by giving out their
address to all kinds of gay websites and signing them up for all kinds of
magazine subscriptions.
For that matter, what I think would be an awesome response to these kind
of people would be to enlist like-minded businesses, who would post
pictures of the pharamists at the register which said, "This person is
not to be served in this establishment".
What other tactics seem like they would be effective in fighting against
obstructionist pharamists who refuse to do their jobs in filling lawful
prescriptions?

While that might be OK, if one wants that kind of career, it seems like
it shouldn't be necessary to go into pharmacy just to try to do something
about it. That got me thinking about what can be done to fight against
these pharmacist psychos.
I think the first thing we need to do is to have a name for these
assholes, since I'm not sure that there is a formal term for these folks,

As to tactics, I say we should use the same approaches against these
pharmacists that anti-abort assholes use against doctors. Create
websites where the phone numbers and addresses of these refusenik
pharmacists are posted online. That way people from all over the country
and all over the world can call them at any hour and say what they think
about them. Or maybe people could help them out, by giving out their
address to all kinds of gay websites and signing them up for all kinds of
magazine subscriptions.
For that matter, what I think would be an awesome response to these kind
of people would be to enlist like-minded businesses, who would post
pictures of the pharamists at the register which said, "This person is
not to be served in this establishment".
What other tactics seem like they would be effective in fighting against
obstructionist pharamists who refuse to do their jobs in filling lawful
prescriptions?

It is possible, though the chains are understandably in a somewhat
difficult position because laws prevent them from firing someone on
religious grounds. Now the reason I would fire these people is simple
non-performance of duties, though I'm sure this would spark some
expensive lawsuits. If I were running the pharmacy, before I hired each
person I would have him or her sign a contract stating, "I will fill
every legally written prescription or I will tender my resignation
immediately". But I can see why some chains are worried about the legal
circus which might ensue if they started getting rid of every pill prude
who uses his/her religion as an excuse to not do his job.
