Photographs of Vestigial Hind Limbs on Snakes |
One fellow in Lenny Flank's Debunk Creationism Group, located at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DebunkCreation MBaumeister sent some
photographs (and they are nice too) of the little vestigial limbs that still
exist on snakes today.
Now, when I was reading Richard Ellis' book "AquaGenesis" and he wrote at
length, about primitive snakes, and how they keep turning up snakes with
hind limbs on them. This is very clearly an evidence for evolution.
If not, then God simply had it in, "big time" for snakes with legs. It's a
wonder everything with legs didn't get wiped out in the flood (if that's
what Creationists would say, brought about the extinction of so many
species.... all with legs).
Anyway, the photographs are available with MBaumeister's permission to
publish them. Those with weaker stomachs should be forewarned, they're not
your typical legs.

Weaker stomachs? That doesn't look disgusting to me at all... just a
couple of little bumps sticking out of its belly.

Yes. This is evidence for evolution.
Vestigial parts also exist for man such as the appendix and the coccyx
bone of humans. I saw a baby once born with a small tail which was later
surgically removed. Whales also has remnant of hind legs because whales
are evolved from land mammals.
Khoon.

You idiot! They aren't vestigial. Scientists have know their function for
years.

Give a *scientific* reason why vestigial characteristics cannot serve a
function, albeit a different one than they originally served. Show your
work.

"Vestigial" doesn't mean "without any function". Vestigial
parts are merely reduced compared to their ancestral,
precursor versions. Some snakes do still have vestigial hind
limbs. Humans [and the other great apes] do have vestigial
tails [the coccyx]. Cave-dwelling critters often have vestigial
eyes.
