I need the name of the Dallas multiplex so I can call them or go there
myself to verify the claim.
Georgann? Can you help me out? I'm right here in the Dallas area,
so it's no problem for me to pop over there and talk to the theater
manager in person.

I don't believe the part of the article about some theater in Dallas
reserving all 20 of its screens for this movie, and I wanna find out
if that part is true, so the name of the theater would be nice.

According to the article:
"My third prediction is that the faith of millions of Christians will become
more fervent as Passion uplifts and inspires them. Passion will propel vast
numbers of unreligious Americans to embrace Christianity. The movie will
one day be seen as a harbinger of America's third great religious
reawakening."
Can't imagine why she left that one out.

I just looked up the stats on "Left Behind". The budget for the film,
and I use that term loosely, was $17.4 million just a bit under the
$25 million that Mel has reportedly budgeted for "Passion". The box
office receipts, however, totaled $4.2+ million half of that in the
opening weekend.
I'll make the prediction that "Passion" will have a decent opening
weekend, of up to $25 million with a sharp drop off after that. It
will probably end up with about $40 million in total box office.
I am neither a prophet nor a movie
critic. I am merely an Orthodox rabbi using ancient Jewish wisdom to make

One, Mel Gibson and Icon Productions will make a great deal of money.
I bet not. How many times can anyone watch a Jew get nailed to a chunk

They might make money, but it won't be at the box office. There might
be a long shelf life for the video used as an evangelistic tool.
Although, if I was shown the brutal execution as a means to promote a
religion, I would run the other way as fast as my long legs could
carry me.
Those
distributors who surrendered to pressure from Jewish organizations and
passed on Passion will be kicking themselves, while Newmarket Films will

Why? No one will go for repeat viewings.
I can't even imagine that the pay movie channels would purchase the
rights to show it. Maybe TBN or the Catholic religious channel would
buy the rights to air the movie, but it couldn't be shown on during
the family hour. If the flash of a boob on TV causes such a
controversy, I can not imagine what an explicit scourging and killing
would cause. Of course, Christians have always been much more
tolerant of gratuitous violence than they have been about naked body
parts.
Two, Passion will become famous as the most serious and substantive
Biblical movie ever made.

LOL That was another real winner -- a budget of $73 million and gross
box office of $21.5 million.
it is currently on the cover of Newsweek
and Vanity Fair.""
Erm... what's the third prediction?
I predict that my money is secure. :)

Heh.
French fries shaped like little thorns, served in a cardboard box
that's shaped like a crown, that you can take home and wear. Might be

passed on Passion will be kicking themselves, while Newmarket Films will
laugh all the way to the bank. Theater owners are going to love this film.

Who wants to spend good money to see a work of fiction about a work of
fiction that insults people?
It seems to me that if there was ever a story that's been done to death
in the movies, two stand out: the Gospels and "A Christmas Carol."
Just last year, they made a Big Deal about the movie "The Gospel of
John." I never met anyone who was interested in that, let alone *saw*
it. Total waste of celluloid.

LOL I found out this morning that the advance ticket sales for the
Passion amount to $5 million dollars. Considering that these are
probably churches or church groups I'm actually surprised it is so
small.
$5 million down, only $79 to go, georgann.

Yet, the Rabbi in your original article you posted did just that. Do
you mean to say that you posted the article when you knew that it
meant nothing? Strange.

Oh, it seems that I've completely missed what must be an important
part of some people's lives. I never go to a film on opening weekend.

I could not believe that anyone who had read this book
would be so foolish as to proclaim that the Bible in every
literal word was the divinely inspired, inerrant word of
God? Have these people simply not read the text? Are they
hopelessly uninformed? Is there a different Bible? Are
they blinded by a combination of ego needs and naivete?

Wow, looks like Liz might have to pay up.
Does this mean you're gonna convert to Catholicism?
