Object: plea alt.atheism --- Fundy Anon Listings
Every time I posted anything of significance in this newsgroup we've usually
gotten whatever we came after. :)
So, I'm going to try again, hoping luck continues to hold up.
http://fundamentalists-anonymous.org ---
and at the top of the page, you'll see where you click on
"Fundamentalists-Anonymous Directory"
Restrictions for listing one's website, has been minimized... anyone should
be able to locate a category which their website or webpages belong under,
(if it's that obscure a subject I'll create the category to accomodate it)
.... giving the Title of the page, a URL to it, and a description.. a
lengthy description is better, describing what the page is about. Or what
the website is about. If you don't have a website, or pages, then maybe
you've got a favorite website that would be of interest to people interested
in Fundamentalist-Anonymous themes. Ex-Fundamentalists, Ex-cultists, a
category is there about Human Rights, etc. Trying to get every conceivable
subject indexed. i.e., I submitted Farrel Till's Skeptical Review under
"Educational sites".
We've had a lot of visitors, but the restrictions were so tight on posting
that they'd maybe register and while waiting to be validated.... they'd
leave. We WANT people to stay around and post their listings... all the good
websites, that are about deconversion and every relative theme... making one
big directory to keep track of stuff. If you've got an organization to list,
same thing --- just make sure to give very good information and a URL,
contact info, Title of organization, etc... and in the correct category of
course... if it has a membership - what's required to be a part of it...
There was one person in Maryland who's posted they want to start a
Fundamentalist-Anonymous support group in their local area, which is great
for people in Maryland --- maybe somebody reading this already has a local
support group they could list, or might decide in the future to start one...
I found "Atheists of Silicon Valley" listed them in the California
category... CEBO (is an organization, whose work is related with the United
Nations/Human Rights) -- they emailed information to us about their work --
what CEBO is, etc... so I published that for them, in an appropriate
category. We heard back from the Brights net, but they didn't seem to
understand we weren't looking for them to link to us... we simply wanted
them to list themselves in the directory. (I wish I did, but I don't have
the time to go on Google scouting out sites... I have done it a little)...
but left on me to do it all by myself --- *smile* the site will surely flop.
I need the help of others to add listings in it.
The directory is for listings of websites/webpages, not discussions
(hopefully some on alt.atheism will list their websites, or passing this
info on to those they know with sites.)
Chat forums --- we want that listed too --- one fellow did post information
on his forum...
if you have a Yahoo chat group -- those are welcomed in the appropriate
category...
things have been going slowly, with restrictions as they were, so those have
been minimized.
Testimonies of deconversion are welcomed wholeheartedly... or if you already
have your testimony on the web, please feel welcomed to post a link to it,
and maybe tell a little about yourself, and some information that the
visitors know what the site is about, and when knowing what it is about (the
more descriptive, the better) --- they might click through and visit.
We're not tracking people or trying to organize memberships, like many
organizations do... but we do want to have an organized directory of
information available (resources, support groups, forums, and everything
relative) all neatly compiled in one spot where people can go for up-to-date
current information... we need help from people to accomplish that though.
I'm trying to run 7 websites right now, and way behind on all of them... but
I have went on Google, scouting out a few sites and reviewing them to see if
they were good quality websites, then I posted information about them...
i.e., the Jehovah Witness category I spent one night on, doing nothing but
tracking down Ex-JW sites... and if any website goes defunct, (or like one I
found, listed itself on another site as a freethought organization and when
you clicked through, they were selling pills - con artists) of course, I
hope to keep those out of the directory, and continually adding on new
information --- keeping things updated. I'm dependant on webmasters and
their willingness to come around, and listing their pages --- individual
pages, if they have something of value related to FA people.
Everyone is welcomed to submit and publish information on their webpages...
if they will only come around and only take the time to post the information
on them.. and I know that's asking a lot of people to do... but some are
good-hearted and willing to do something to help a good cause. It's intended
to simply be a big directory of information, for and by freethinkers. We
have a link on every one of our articles to the directory --- eventually,
when we get far more listings, and people begin returning to find stuff in a
certain category or maybe a support group in their local area... it should
then, become beneficial to any webmasters who list their site in the
directory. Often people are doing search engines for this organization
"Fundamentalists Anonymous" .. so, with it being one of the top listings on
Google now, it should help some webmasters being put in touch with people
interested in what they've (webmasters round about) got published.
There's not many requirements involved... just asking people to be neat and
informative, above all things. Anyone who's willing to contribute their site
listing --- it's appreciated.
Thanks!
.
