Politics of abortion |
I can not imagine religious people caring about anyone. Is the
abortion issue just to annoy those who disagree with the religious
minority?

Imagine that you are ruling a bronze age tribe, subject to raids from
neighbouring tribes to steal women, property, territory or whatever. You
need every spear wielding warrior that you can muster so abortion,
homosexuality, or any other practice that does not provide new warriors is
going to be a bad thing.
People in the 21'st century still support this archaic mindset as they
believe it will allow them to spend eternity in a bronze age heaven rather
than dealing with their own mortality in an adult and dignified fashion.

It's an artifact of the old Middle Eastern "we must control women's
sexuality" mindset.
Of course, the forced-birthers won't *say* that's what it is, but
that's what it is: any woman who voluntarily has sex must be open to
being punished by getting pregnant. If you don't want to get
pregnant, then you're not allowed to have sex. Simple, really. But
then, that's how their minds work.

That's just how religion works:
I believe it because I don't like it, therefore it is. So you must be
prevented.

One fine day in alt.atheism, Eris <vithant@gmail.com> bloodied us up with
this:
I can not imagine religious people caring about anyone. Is the
abortion issue just to annoy those who disagree with the religious
minority?
The bible says nothing about abortion, but the religious, Christians in
particular, believe the god implants a "soul" in every fertilized egg at
conception. Therefore, when the fetus is aborted, the human responsible
has deprived the god of a worshiper, I guess.
Doesn't the god have enough worshipers already? Wasn't that number
purported to be 144,000 in Revelation? I guess most if not all Christians
ignore that chapter, since they are obviously excluded from the salvation
thing.
And what about all the fertilized eggs that are washed out of a woman's
uterus every month during her period? Can a soul be flushed down the
toilet? How many souls are inadvertently snuffed because the god forgot to
attach them to the wall of the uterus?
There are so many things wrong with the "pro-life" argument, it's
laughable. The only thing I've found in the bible about this is that the
god is responsible for the life and death of every human in existence.
Therefore, the god is an abortion doctor.
And, if you think about it, Christians believe the god gave us Free Will.
Therefore, the god is pro-choice.
Pro-lifer arguments are transparent *****, nothing more, nothing less.
