Pope Dies at Vatican |
Pope John Paul II has died, an official source at the Vatican has
confirmed.
The 84-year-old pontiff's poor health worsened further as he suffered
from failing heart and kidneys, and he died at 9.37pm Vatican time.
The Polish leader of the Roman Catholic Church for more than a quarter
of a century had shunned hospital to remain in his quarters.

I will say a couple of things...it's sad that any human being should go
through such suffering...and there is no doubt that he was the best pope
ever...which really isn't saying much!! I will admit that overall he did do
a lot of good during his papacy and he used his influence to generally
improve life for some people! This however does not excuse the terrible
things that his policies have wrought across the world. Millions of people
have suffered in countless ways because of his conservative, anti-reality
pronouncements!!! The worst thing about his death is that his successor
will inevitably be worse and lead to even more death and suffering!!!

As far as I can see this is was a man who was once a radical and became a
reactionary; at the head of a massively rich organisation that purports to
identify with the poor, an organisation that
encourages homophobia while condoning paedophilia; that comforts and
sometimes supports terrorists, that has set back the emancipation of women
(or at least has tried to) and that condemns millions to poverty through its
attitude to birth control - and
that historically has looked the other way whilst genocide has been commited
under its nose.
Of course its sad when someone gets old and dies...... but why am I supposed
to be sad or sympathetic towards this representative of such an
organisation?

He advocated discrimination and suppression of women, turning them into baby
making machines, increasing poverty and starvation and over population in
Catholic countries like Mexico, advocated hatred and discrimination against
homosexuals, hated atheists, allowed millions of mainly African Catholics to
be infected with
HIV/AIDS by denying them using protection other than "Don't have sex!" and
ran the largest, most powerful, most profitable criminal organization on the
face of the Earth for almost 30 years, raking in trillions of dollars and
throwing the occasionally crumb to charity to keep up appearances and keep
the brainwashing machine well oiled!

Yes, but did he give Reagan a brain?
I don't spend a great deal of time thinking about the Pope. He has done
some good in the world, but there are issues and areas where I don't agree
with him. I leave it to history to decide his greatness.

I have the gravest doubts that he "was the best pope ever.! Need we be
reminded of the blind eye turned to the rampant pedophilia -- then we have
the gruesome spectacle of the pressured advocacy for the canonization of
Pious the Ninth and the even more suspect, Pious the XII --
Pio Nono was deeply complicit in the kidnapping of a Jewish child who was
then baptized and declared to be a CHRISTIAN and by reason of this
christianity was prevented from being returned to his parents.
And then the truly infamous Pious XII was caught between decency and the
Nazis and chose the nazis -- when the Jews of Rome, HIS OWN PARISH, were
being deported he was silent, acquiescing in their slaughter. A decent man
would have gone down to the depot and insisted on being taken away with them
-- they WERE HIS FLOCK and he cheerfully abandoned them .
As for the next pope being "inevitably be worse and lead to even more death
and suffering!!! " Might we not hope for an Atavar of John the XXIII, a
seemingly civilized and amiable man.

If they were Italian, they were his people, no matter what
religion they were. He was a traitor to Italy for not trying
to protect them. And, if they lived in Vatican City, he was
even a bigger traitor. Or, maybe he was just a coward. Or,
maybe he actually supported the Nazis. I'd believe all three.

Peter said that the Jews in Rome should always be protected by the Catholic
Church. They have always been likened to the Pope's flock.

Why should subsequent Popes be bound by his words?

You would have to ask the subsequent Popes why. They seem to, either by
choice or religion, be bound by a great many of his words.

They weren't -- and that vileness was what I was referencing -- no need to
look back all the way to the inquisitors, this last century does very nicely
all by itself!

The Roman Catholic Church has been claiming him to be the first Pope for
about 1600 years, more or less. You should take that argument up with them.
John Paul the second was the 264th Pope, I think.
From the Catholic Encyclopedia.

And another thing.
All 264 of them have been Catholics. When are they going to the
Protestants a chance, in these days of equality?

The Catholic Church Organization was started with Christians as the One
Religion in the empire, in the 4th century AD, by God through Emperor
Galerius
who was Emperor 305-311 AD. Emperor after Emperor forged the One Religion
ahead. The Roman Senate made Christianity the official religion of the
Empire. No more persecuting of Christians was proclaimed by the emperor.
Roman armies killed idolaters and broke down their worship places. Both the
real Christians and the pseudo-Christians wore the name of Christian. But
in
325 AD, Emperor Constantine and philosopher bishops poisoned the
Organization with Gnostic language and issued an ambiguous Nicene Creed
which Christians who don't know better respect even today. God started
Christianity three hundred years before He started the One Catholic
Organization,
which He must destroy with the other kingdoms of the world because they are
NOW of the world.
