Pope me this and pope me that! |
All over the news, pope, pope, pope, and crying catholics. For fucks'
sake, the man was 84 years old! Stop crying! Catholics should
celebrate his passing, since according to them he has a free ticket
into heaven.
Personally I think the he'll be best remembered for the AIDS pandemic
and helping to infect tens of millions of people with it.

Tell me about it. I turned on the tube today and all I saw was pope,
pope, pope. Like nothing else was happening in the world today.

Well in Australia there was another major story. 9 Australian soldiers
assisting victims of last week's earthquake have been killed in a helicopter
crash. I guess Gawd was too busy showing his new butt buddy around he
didn't have time to look after people actually doing something to help the
victims of his hissy fit!

I read about that. They died actually trying to do something good for
people. IMHO, they deserve more praise.

There was a big insurgent attack on Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq which got
only passing mention.

It was only a "big" attack in the media reports. Similarly, two
incidents in Afghanistan were a "wave of violence".

Speaking of the Pope, I tried to make a hotel reservation today. I
hadn't heard the news today, but when I dialed the number into my
cell-phone, I couldn't get through for over a half hour. "All circuits
are busy," I heard.
First thought I had was, "What? Did the Pope die or something?" I
turned on the TV and, yup, he did. I guess so many theists were tying
up the phone lines, I couldn't make hotel reservations for over three
hours. Argh!

That is the stupidest statement I've read yet regarding the pontiff.
Gays were boinking each other long before the Pope arrived on the
scene. He advised them to stop, which to date has proved to be 100%
effective. Those who didn't and suffered the scourge of AIDS have been
attended to by hospices funded and administered the RCC. No other
figure on earth has done more for these poor people.

The plight of these people is of great concern to the Holy See and Pope
John Paul II addressed their plight numerous times. There is only so
much the RCC can do. If you're going to blame a religion for the plight
of Africa, blame the muslims or jews. It makes as much sense as blaming
the Pope. Whether you agree with his teachings or not, the man has
achieved enough in his life to justify a few days of "pope me this and
pope me that".

Or banning birth control, making the poverty worse and making sure there are
a hell of a lot more poor people.....and all of them tithing hand over fist
into the churches strong box! Only a tiny fraction of one percent of the
church's resources actually goes to help the poor, so those lies don't hold

There has to be a significant audience that are not catholic. What is
the fascination? I think many of these people fall for the romanticism
of catholicism but do not practice a religion.
These are the same people that say they are not atheists but when asked
to define their religion then make some vague reference to a form of
mysticism.
