Pope says there is substantial scientific proof for evolution. |
"...In a talk with 400 priests, the Pope spoke of the current debate raging in
some countries, particularly the US and his native Germany, between creationism
and evolution.
.... “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific
proof in favour of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and
which enriches our understanding of life and being as such..."

The pope and his theory of creationism have made him a world wide laughing
stock. He really had no choice but to grudgingly admit the obvious.

Note that evolution is not really at odds with the ideas of there being a
creator for the universe itself and/or a creator who first introduced a
'spark' of life (deist ideas). But it is at odds with the notion that all
life was created in its final form during that busy first week of creation,
the biblical literalist / fundamentalist idea.

The stench of the oft-flogged dead horse finally got to the old fellow.
Can Catholics ride the fresh new pony of reality ?
Will some have a couple of "bucks" each way ?

In article <bi1ga39aii1dpafrnmkppeepfkugbcng6n@4ax.com>, spaXm-
mXe-anXd-paXy-5000-dollars@pobox.com says...

Another interesting statement at this link is Benny's concern
about the environment, and that "“We must respect the interior
laws of creation, of this Earth, to learn these laws and obey them
if we want to survive.” There is a subtle implication here that
"Jesus ain't comin' anytime soon", although Benny would obviously
never admit to that. As we see here, when reality and ideology
clash, reality will eventually prevail.

One fine day in alt.atheism, Ben Kaufman
<spaXm-mXe-anXd-paXy-5000-dollars@pobox.com> bloodied us up with this:
"...In a talk with 400 priests, the Pope spoke of the current debate
raging in some countries, particularly the US and his native Germany,
between creationism and evolution.
... "This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much
scientific proof in favour of evolution, which appears as a reality
that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and
being as such..."
Then he turns a blind eye on the first book of Gawd's Word, which evolution
disproves. God's word can therefore be taken as a metaphor, which leaves
the road wide open for pedophile priests and church coverups. These guys
are worse than the Sicilian Mafia.

The Sicilian Mafia has some ethics.

Due to the $bottom line$ I think the days of furiously protecting predator
priests are over.
