Power From On High
Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power[spiritual], after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you:"
As we examine the RCC, EOx and other pseudo Christian cults one mark that
is completly absent is the spiritual power given by the Holy spirit upon
followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why is this? Is it because they
actually do not even know Him? Is it that, as Satan does, they are simply
pretending to be God's people? It is quite evident to the real born again
Christian that these pretenders have not a clue to what and how this God
given power works or its real purpose.
As a rule of thumb when you see all of the pomp, rites, parades and
mystical smoke with these groups there is no power with it at all. They
indeed have a form of godliness but have not the power thereof: from such
turn away."(I Tim. 3:5)

That's what liars and psychotics for some pretended Holy Spirit have
been saying for the last 2000 years. All of them think they have the
"true" Holy Spirit, and that all the others are deceived, somehow.
Better to admit that you're simply insane, like all the others who
think they actually have communicated with some Holy Spirit.
Look at what can happen if you listen to that spirit, in the case
of the woman who claimed God told her to murder her children
this past week here in Texas. She was considered legally insane,
and God, or the Holy Spirit, got off free as a bird... Free to infest
some other woman's mind who might kill more children in the name
of God!

I'm tired of hearing this "holy spirit" junk! You know what the holy
spirit does? He convicts one person to interpret the Bible one way,
then he goes and convicts another person to interpret the Bible
another way, so on and so forth. The end result is that the "Church"
given to us by Christ is split into thousands of sects because the
holy spirit tells everybody to interpret the Bible differently. You
know how I know this is true? Because when I ask people why they
believe what they do they say "the Holy Spirit led me to belive this,"
even though each person believes something different. Somebody please
tell the Holy spirit to be more consistent!

I am not so sure about that
At least if the rock answers you KNOW you have gone mad
Those who see themselves as being in direct contact with the Holy G rarely
advance to that level of insight!
Take JW for an example
He is always getting answers from God, demons etc

I think that such a desire is natural. But I consider it more important
to try to face reality as much as I am able.
My mother died a few months ago, and it was pretty hard for my family.
But however I may feel about it, I have to face the fact that all that
is left of her is the ashes and our memories. I face that reality and
carry on helping Dad and the rest of the family to handle it.
Explaination...none! Just a hunch, I guess.
I hope you'll understand that I would prefer to wait until I see some

Funny, I felt the same way when I had my favorite dog euthanized last year.
It faded quickly when I remembered that christians don't believe animals
have a soul. Then I started thinking... how can a group's beliefs have any
effect on what actually happens?
Based on my observations firsthand, and through lack of evidence for
anything otherwise, death is the end. Afterlife is wishful thinking based
on human emotion and legends passed down through the millennia.

Are you implying that atheists are responsible for all that? How do you
figure? Religion is at the base of the most horrendous terrors humanity
has experienced throughout its history. I would hope you have studied
that subject, haven't you?
But toxic waste and ozone? Those are problems caused by capitalism, the
economic force of our lives. It has nothing to do with religion at all.
In fact, I think you'll find that the vast majority of polluters are
"fine, upstanding members" of the finest churches around.
I'll also remind you of one James Watt, the Secretary of the Interior
for Ronald Reagan, who believed that taking care of the environment was
a waste of time, because Jesus was "coming back soon" and any effort to
control pollution was therefore a waste of time and money.

have not a clue. Period.

You "free thinkers" are what's screwing up the world.
True, by bringing electricity, medicine, clean food and water and a
hop for the future to humanity without demanding obedience to our
particular Sky Pixie, we're ruining it for you Shamans.
Isn't it amazing how you twits force us to "prove" our God and yet
supply no proof when asked ,,that there isn't one.
That's because the logical burden of proof is on you, idiot. You're
the one making a claim, we're just saying we don't believe it.

How? The pledge thing? The moving of the ten commandments monuments off
government property where they don't belong in the first place? In doing
these things we are attempting to awaken a nation recently lulled to sleep
by thoughts of jesus-sugarplums dancing in their heads.
You don't know much about what you're talking about do you. I bet you
are a "follower".
The life of a Christian < I mean a real one > is not all "sugarplums"
It's a war with evil and constant study of the Word.
A nation that has
taken grand steps toward a theocracy similar to that of most Muslim
nations. Do you really want this? Or can you agree that religion has no
business in politics?
Politics would be much better if the ones running were Christians.
Not religious...but "Christian"
Can you look at the crisis in the Middle East and honestly say that free
thinkers are what's screwing up the world?
The zealots over there are not Christians, Where does it say in the
Bible that Christians can strap bombs to themselves and blow up
innocent people?

That's been true for a long time. Lucky for us the church has lost the power
to kill the "non-believers" In the time of Calvin you could be a true
believer in one village and be put to death for that believe one village
over. If you were a moderate they'd kill you in all the villages.

Given the negative response to the Newdow case by many
religious people, I'd suspect it's the other way around. You may
be able to kill me, but you cannot remake the universe to fit
your mythology.
