Prayers for atheists. |
Why do people such as Jason Gastrich say they are praying *for* us
atheists?
They aren't praying *for* us, they are praying *against* us.

Gastric doesn't give a crap about atheists.
Oh yes he does. He hates us with a passion. Our very existence
is seen by him as an abomination and an offence against his god.
It shows in every post he makes. He is so obsessed with us
that he has set up his ministry of hate specifically to project
that hate. He thinks of virtually nothing else but us and what he
can do about us.
I agree. My own words seem between the lines but your opinion is
dead bang. Most of the persistence whack jobs we get here are overcome
with hatred for atheists. We are the antithesis of their fantasy and
they have no recourse except to hate the thing they have no control
over. Sadly, it's an accepted behavior for the superstitious. To rail
against logic and reason is a winner position.
He's trying to score
points with his flock as being the 'Atheist Converter'.
It's so sad. For all his hullabaloo with debates and lists, he has
failed miserably. And even more, if possible, pathetic, he has someone
mirror our list.
I imagine all these loons are slapping him on the back whispering,
'better you than me'.
My impression is of of a detached horror by those decent Christians
out there at what is being done in their name just as I know many
moslems were horrified by what is done in the name of Islam. This
man is clearly getting more extreme, angry and unstable as
he gets increasingly frustrated. You all know what happens when these
kind get like that. I fear it will all end in violence, I really do.
I've been around a long time. The poor sap will fade away like all
the rest. They will sooner of later be put upon to the max and get
frustrated. It always happens. In the ten years I've been here, I've
never seen it fail. You can't convert an intellectual atheists. There
is always someone that asks a question (like the hundreds he's kill
filed) he can't give a decent answer to.
I hope you are right but have you ever come across a fundie more
virulent and full of hate as Jason? How many have spent so much
time and energy in building up a 60,000 word website to attack us?

I think it important to be very polite but firm with every assertion
calmly challenged with a smile. The religious nuts hate that. They
want us to be offensive, it makes them the martyr for
their cause and lets them claim the moral ground.
Just look how quickly they sieze on the occasional ad hom
from one or two us and used to generalise how nasty we all
are. It is just what they want us to do. No. this sort of thing just
backfires in my view.

That is very true, but I do think that these people need to realize
that freedom of religion still exists, and that if we want to be
goat-slaughtering Satanists, we have every right to be - and there's
not a damned thing they can do about it. I think it's a good thing to
give these idiots a jolt every once in a while.
If you want to be polite but firm, have you considered one of these?

I don't know about that. I told the pair of JWs from our neighborhood

last time they were here, I had a nice polite discussion for a while,
and I think I convinced them pretty well that I don't believe in god,
so they are wasting their time with me. They haven't been back, it's
been a couple years now.
I think they mostly pester folks that they think are undecided, or
folks that may be in trouble of some sort, in other words, easy marks.

It's called "heavenly brownie points" The more points, the more
diamonds on your entry way floor.
It also as a lot to do with the whole self-righteous, egotistical,
puffed up, horn blowing, stand out in the crowed, "look at what a great
xtian I am, facing evil on my own" ***** of these morons.
And then, when none of that works, it's on to the self feeding

because I'm doing such great work for the Lord. Send cash."
So you see, preying on, errr, hum, for people, that don't want it, is a

I think praying is also some kind of magic talisman to them to ward of
what they perceive as evil. If they could they would probably wave a
cross at us like we were Dracula or a ghost or something :-)
I think they are terrified of us and our terrible truths undermining
their beliefs :-)
They tried logic - their nonesense was picked apart for our amusement
They tried their ludicrous Intelligent Design - they were shot down.
They tried an unrelenting barrage of lies and distortions - it failed
They tried argument - it failed when confronted with question they
could not answer.
They tried assertion - it failed.
They tried fear of death - it failed
They tried intimidation, scorn and ridicule - we are still here firm
as ever.
Getting desperate they seized on a poor old man claiming
he wasbrilliant and that this once 'big atheist' is now praying in a
Christian church for forgivness for his sins . They fall flat on their
faces with that one since he still regards Christianity as an
abomination and has nor become a believer.
All they have left is the 'power of prayer'
Their locker is now empty
What next?
Will we see the once great marble halls of Jasons ego
(as shown through his web site) crumble into decay and
ruin? Will future visitors pick their way over the crumbling
edifice and marvel at its once great splendour and think about
its fantastic vision of us all grovelling at its feet in gratitude
siezing on every golden word it utters with awed rapture?
Or will they think the same as us, empty the garbage can
and drive off?

atheists?
They aren't praying *for* us, they are praying *against* us.
And then, when none of that works, it's on to the self feeding
persecution complex they have. "Oh, whoa is me, I'm being persecuted by
the big bad atheists for my faith. Satan is trying to beat me down,
because I'm doing such great work for the Lord. Send cash."
So you see, preying on, errr, hum, for people, that don't want it, is a
win / win situation for such ignorant, self serving jack asses as Jason
and his drawer full of stinky socks.
I think praying is also some kind of magic talisman to them to ward of
what they perceive as evil. If they could they would probably wave a
cross at us like we were Dracula or a ghost or something :-)
I think they are terrified of us and our terrible truths undermining
their beliefs :-)
That's it. Reality is something they cannot face.
