There was a preacher from one of those fundamentalist sects
arrested in south Alabama last week for molesting a 13yr old
girl. He probably thought she was "marryin age"

Bishop Hornbuckle. A classic tent-preacher, only he had a zillion dollar
church.
You gotta give that one victim credit. She had the presence of mind to snap
some pictures on her cell phone and gave 'em to the cops.
What was really bogus was to see the Board of Directors for the Church corp
on the news tonight proudly saying that they were going to "continue to do
the good work".
I think that if the Slave States would just do away with these little
predatory preachers - the only Christians left would be 4 people in
Greenville.

That's the Catholic's problem.
This was a privately held corporate church in a slave state that was one of
the original Meth states as well - Texas.
Their problem is greed, sloth and Hubris - NOT celibacy.

Would you say that poverty is the cause for theft?
I would say that self-serving behavior with either no self-control or
no conscience is the cause for behavior like this. If they're
preachers, then they're hypocrites to boot (not every rapist, thief, or
killer is a hypocrite.)
I would suggest that a certain percentage of guys who go into the
priesthood have sexual ...issues, and wouldn't likely marry anyway. A
certain percentage of preachers like control over their flock and
exploit them, and a certain percentage of cops attract bullies. I would
not presume to offer numbers on these, but I do think we can take steps
to reduce the problem people each line of work attracts.

I doubt it. Much as the Protestants love to hoop & hollar about the
corruption in the Catholic church, there's at least as much molestation
going on there. There just isn't any presiding church authority to sue
for it. No big money, no big headlines.

And no national conspiracy to spirit away the Pedophiles to new hunting
grounds.
This evil claim, that the little boys allowed themselves to be raped so they
could sue the church is just simple, faith-based hatred.
THAT is why Catholic Churches all over the nation are going bankrupt -
because they've taken a stand for the church, and AGAINST God's law.

I would have to agree with that, also. It's worse than an evil claim,
people who say such things ought themselves be subjected to the kind
of molestation - adjusted for scale, meaning where applicable a 2-foot
penis as thick as a can of beer - that the young men and little boys
had to endure.

The Protestants, by-in-large, have gotten rid of pedophile ministers and
turned them over to the authorities. Not so with the Catholic Church. Had
the Catholic Church done the right thing to begin with, they wouldn't be
having these problems now.

Yep. Psychologists who study clerical sex abuse say that RCC priests are
no more likely than other clergy to be abusers; they've had more victims
because the church hierarchy gave them opportunities to re-offend. So I
don't think the celibacy requirement has much to do with it directly
(indirectly, it might have caused people to let their guard down and look
the other way at opportunities for priests to be alone with kids,
opportunities that would ordinarily set off alarm bells).
In many ways, the main reason the RCC is bearing the brunt of the problem
is that it's the only Christian church with a sufficiently large,
bureaucrat hierarchy to be able to behave the way it did (covering up is
classic behavior for a large hierarchy).

I agree. Although I do think that the celibacy requirement may have made
joining the priesthood attractive to pedophiles that knew that their lack of
an adult relationship would not be questioned. That and the fact that the
"target rich" environment was made relatively safe by the organization.

Yeap, like I said originally, chuck them to the cop-shop, and allow the
coppers to do the investigation. If proven there is in-proprietary,
then these "kiddie fuckers" should be thrown in the slammer.

Unfortunately, too often in the USA these types of criminals get sent to
special prisons where they are kept isolated and protected from other inmates.
I think it's much better justice for them to be placed in regular prisons where
other inmates may treat them to the very same experiences they dished out to
those kids. However, Jesus Himself also described a punishment for these
priests/preachers - tie them to a very large rock and toss 'em overboard.

A uber-father-figure in a culture that thinks women
are possessions of men, of course you're going to
have sexual exploitation by preachers. My mom has
worked child abuse investigations for a couple
decades now, fundie christians make up a relative
minority in her area but a strong majority in the
offender population for child sex abuse cases.
