Object: President Still Pushing Patriot Act
Whatever criticism one may have with certain provisions of this
legislation, no one can deny it's effectiveness in curtailing any
domestic terrorist acts since 9/11. That point alone should be enough
to pass re-enactment.

President Still Pushing Patriot Act
(CNSNews.com) - Calling the USA Patriot Act "one of the most important
tools to combat terror," President Bush Friday continued to lobby
Congress to reauthorize the law that many civil libertarians say gives
law enforcement too much power.
Speaking at the new National Counterterrorism Center, Bush declared,
"The Patriot Act has helped save American lives and it has protected
American liberties. For the sake of our national security, the United
States Congress needs to renew all [of] the provisions of the Patriot
Act and this time Congress needs to make those provisions permanent."
The comments came on the heels of a year-old report that the U.S.
Justice Department has just released to the public. It dealt with "the
FBI's Handling of Intelligence Information Prior to the September 11
Attacks" and pointed out many mistakes that if averted, might have
resulted in the foiling of the 9/11 attacks

There have been three major domestic terrorist acts since 9/11.

And hundreds of minor ones... especially when you count anti-Muslim
terrorists, loyal to Bush.

The Washington sniper, the anthrax attack in Washington, and the
anthrax attack in Florida come tomind. Given that the frequency of
domestic terrorist attacks before 9/11 and after 9/11 seems to be
about the same, there doesn't appear to be any evidence that it is
doing any good.

Al Qaeda waited far longer between the first WTC attack back in 1993,
and the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000. What makes you think that the
Patriot Act has anything to do with their hiatus since 9/11?

"Bush and his jews"? I thought he was a Methodist Christian at 40.
Before that, he was an Episcopalian Christian.
And there are many more conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 than what
Bush and company are espousing.
For example: There is a conspiracy theory that, in fact, it was
Americans hired by the Bush Administration who hijacked the planes, so
that they could blame it on the Middle East and go to war in Iraq.
There is also a conspiracy theory that there was no plane that flew into
the Pentagon, but a shoulder-fired missile.
Your anger at the Bush Administration is misplaced.

And what, pray tell, do you think is unconstitutional about the Patriot
act?

Why change it? The portions that were struck down are now no longer part of
the law.

Query has the Bush administration appealed them?
And if you know something about our court system you'll know that
decision is only law as to the Southern District of NY at this point.

What the ***** are you babbling about? Once a portion of a law is struck down
by court of competence, it is null and void EVERYWHERE. You haven't the
foggiest clue, do you? You simply spew and assume no one else does either?
