Priest Sued Over Existence of Jesus Christ... |
So... When this guy wins and the bottom completely falls out from
under religion:
What deity is usama bin laden fighting for?
What voices did bush hear before invading iraq?
What happens to rush limbaugh's theory that climate change is not
happening because god would not allow it???

An Italian court has begun the task of deciding whether a priest should
be called to face questioning over whether or not Jesus Christ actually
existed.
A court in the town of Viterbo, north of Rome, is considering a case
brought by Luigi Cascioli, a devoted atheist.
Mr Cascioli sued Father Righi in 2002 after the priest attacked him in
print for casting doubt over the legitimacy of the Christian gospels.
The atheist contends that Christianity relies on purely anecdotal
evidence.

Old news. A higher level judge terminated the whole thing.

Yeah, judges have been throwing Jesus out of court since
the middle ages. Freedom means the right to be wrong,
and that right includes believing in fairy tales like Jesus Christ.

Trials like this are pointless.
It does not matter if the evidence exists.
Not one judge will listen to one word.
Not one word.
They will not judge the case.
They will judge one thing.
"What happens to ME - if I decide either way?"
What happens to the judge?
If the judge tells the truth, and admits, technically, under the rules
of evidence he is bound to, there is no evidence.
The press then headlines - "Satanic Atheist Judge who hates babies and
puppies declares GOD NEVER EXISTED!"
The appeal process reverses the decision.
The first judge is removed from his office and never works again.
The whole issue is a joke.
It is like an American terrorism trial.
The defendant is always guilty.
They are not going to sink their own careers by doing honesty.
The verdicts are written before the trial starts.
The most important law of political science - is that .5% of humans
HAVE the IQ that makes our civilization. 99.5% of humans have a
'functional intelligence'.
All trials that anger the 99.5% are abandoned. If you do not yield to
the ignorant, they will burn our cities to ashes in their rioting
terrorism.
Pulling the lion's tail when you are in the right, STILL gets you
eaten.
Just the way reality is.

Yet another pompous nut trying to sell a poorly researched, speculative
and intentionally deceptive book. The publicity of the lawsuit will
probably help -- otherwise it would be yet another book of foolishness
and half witted "theories" that doesn't sell.
I would suggest that if a priest can be sued under this guise, the same
court should grant a standing to sue to anyone who purchases the book
or even reads the claims set forth by the author. Any such claim that
he can't authoritatively prove should be sufficient for punitive
damages and fraud.

I think that the guy was just trying to make a point, or settle some
old score. Doesn't really matter-the case was tossed out anyway..
