Prisoners set fire to southern Iran prison

Prisoners set fire to a jail during a riot in the southern
Iranian city of Shiraz early Sunday morning. Parts of
Adel-Abad Prison were set ablaze as early as 4 am.
Several prison guards were taken hostage during the
riot. A number of prisoners managed to escape, though
several were shot and killed by State Security Forces
outside the prison. Adel-Abad Street and other nearby
roads have all been sealed off.
