It would have been an insult to every Catholic, indeed it would have
been an insult to decency itself, if this man had desecrated this
school by speaking. Good riddance!

Pro-Abortion Congressman Turns Down Catholic School's Invitation
(CNSNews.com) - A pro-abortion congressman has voluntarily turned down
an invitation to be the commencement speaker at a Catholic school in
New York, after a Catholic group protested his planned appearance.
Rep. Sherwood Boehlert was scheduled to speak at St. Elizabeth's
College of Nursing in Utica, N.Y. on Saturday, but now school officials
say the invitation violated a diocesan ban on such speakers at Catholic
institutions.
Bishop James Moynihan of the Diocese of Syracuse voiced his opposition
to Boehlert's planned appearance, but it was Boehlert's idea to turn
down the invitation because of planned protests.
"Perhaps Congressman Boehlert understands what officials at St.
Elizabeth's College did not: It is a scandal and an affront to faithful
Catholics when Catholic institutions hold up abortion-rights advocates
as role models for their students," said Patrick J. Reilly, president
of the Cardinal Newman Society.

Excuse me? What, Catholics can't take someone that doesn't agree with
you giving a speech!? The point of having freedom of speech ingrained in
American society is to promote discussion about things like abortion...
Why, saying that just by giving a speech "desecrates [a] school" seems
awfully anti-American... then again, this elitist anti-democratic
approach is pretty common among religious fundamentalists (and that's
exactly what too many Catholics are).

yonder, so there just might be some perques in not being "saved". Another
possible rub in going to RC heaven is that it's possible that one might
see some somewhat disconcerting things going on between cherubs and RC
priests, not that there's anything wrong with that.
