As I've said before, your posts indicate not just mental problems, but also
serious character problems.
Living inside a fantasy like christianity makes you vulnerable and afraid of
truths that will break through the fantasies and lies. You react by chanting
and burrowing your head in the sand.
Also, it makes you hate and gloat over the misfortunes of people like Bob
P. - whose only offense was to investigate you and then post what he found.
Christinaity, like all religions and world view fantasies, is dangerous to
everyone - but especially dangerous to those who have existing mental
problems, like you Andrew.

If you want to prove your gods, have them appear and prove their existence
and powers and let mankind know what they want.
Educate your weak ignorant mind:
http://www.evilbible.com/
Welcome to the EvilBible.com Web Site
This web site is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible.
For far too long priests and preachers have completely ignored the vicious
criminal acts that the Bible promotes. The so called “God” of the Bible
makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the
Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage,
plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of
unborn children. I have included references to the Biblical passages, so
grab your Bible and follow along. You can also follow along with on-line
Bibles such as BibleStudyTools.net or SkepticsAnnotatedBible.com.
It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of
innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”.
For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census
of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60
cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all
the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value
(Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of “all the
living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen
sheep, and asses” (Joshua 6). In Judges 21, He orders the murder of all the
people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be
forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to
hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and
forcibly rape her and make her your wife! Just about every other page in
the Old Testament has God killing somebody! In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders
the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own
church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another
1,862,265 people murdered.
The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own
daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 and
Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms
137:9).
This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person. Murder,
rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by
saying that some god says it’s OK. If more people would actually sit down
and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself.
Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to
go to heaven: "For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's
womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are
eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He
that is able to receive it, let him receive it." (Matthew 19:12 ASV) I
don't know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally
tells all men to cut off their privates.
The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and
animal sacrifice.
And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the
Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus
makes it perfectly clear: "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away
than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid."
(Luke 16:17 NAB) There are many more quotes on this topic at my "Do Not
Ignore the Old Testament" web page.
I know that most Christians believe that God is a good and loving god,
and wants people to do good things. I believe that most people want to do
good things and behave morally. I also believe that many Christians haven’t
really read the Bible, or just read certain passages in church. This is
understandable, as the Bible is hard to read due to its archaic language and
obscure references. Also many priests and preachers don’t like to read
certain passages in the Bible because they present a message of hate not
love.
If you follow the links on the left side of this page you will learn
about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by
priests and preachers. You can also discuss things related to this web site
or religion and atheism in general at the

Judgment Day
Evangelist: Let me put it this way—are you ready for the
Judgment Day?
Store clerk: When will it be?
Evangelist: Could be today, could be tomorrow!
Store clerk: Well, when you know exactly, be sure to let me
know. My wife will probably want to go on both days.
==
(Matthew 7:20-23 NASB)
20 “So then, you will 1know them aby their fruits.
21 “aNot everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of
My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 “aMany will say to Me on bthat day, ‘Lord, Lord,
did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast
out demons, and in Your name perform many 1miracles?’
23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you;
aDEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’
7:19, 20 The destiny of the false prophets is to be thrown into
the fire. The doom of false teachers and prophets is “swift
destruction” (2 Pet. 2:1). They can be known by their fruits.
V. I Never Knew You (7:21–23)
7:21 The Lord Jesus next warns against people who falsely
profess to acknowledge Him as Savior, but have never been
converted. Not everyone who calls Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” shall
enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who do the will of
God enter the kingdom. The first step in doing the will of God
is to believe on the Lord Jesus (John 6:29).
7:22, 23 On judgment day when unbelievers stand before
Christ (Rev. 20:11–15), many will remind Him that they
prophesied, or cast out demons, or performed many
wonders—all in His name. But their protestation will be in
vain. Jesus will declare to them that He never knew them or
acknowledged them as His own.
From these verses we learn that not all miracles are of divine
origin and that not all miracle workers are divinely accredited.
A miracle simply means that a supernatural power is at work.
That power may be divine or satanic. Satan may empower his
workers to cast out demons temporarily, in order to create
the illusion that the miracle is divine. He is not dividing his
kingdom against itself in such a case, but is plotting an even
worse invasion of demons in the future.
==
We are to recognize them by their fruits. That is what we are
to watch for in their lives.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven [Matt. 7:21].
You can run around and mouth about living by the Golden
Rule, but the point is: Are you doing the will of the Father in
heaven? If you are doing His will, you’ll come to Christ,
recognizing that you need a Savior.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart
from me, ye that work iniquity [Matt. 7:22–23].
Obviously these verses do not refer to believers today. Every
believer, living or dead, will be caught up to meet the Lord in
the air. None will hear the Lord say, “depart from me.” This
passage has particular reference to the Great Tribulation
period and the Millennium. This is the place to suggest that the
Sermon on the Mount will have a particular meaning for the
remnant during the Great Tribulation.
==
7:21 Not everyone who says … but he who does. The
barrenness of this sort of faith demonstrates its real character
(cf. v. 20)—the faith that says but does not do is really
unbelief. Jesus was not suggesting that works are meritorious
for salvation, but that true faith will not fail to produce the fruit
of good works. This is precisely the point of James 1:22–25;
2:26.
7:22 have we not prophesied … cast out demons … and
done many wonders. Note that far from being totally devoid
of works of any kind, these people were claiming to have
done some remarkable signs and wonders. In fact, their
whole confidence was in these works—further proof that
these works, spectacular as they might have appeared, could
not have been authentic. No one so bereft of genuine faith
could possibly produce true good works. A bad tree cannot
bear good fruit (v. 18).
7:23 lawlessness. All sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4), i.e.,
rebellion against the law of God (cf. 13:41).
==
“It is hard for humans to conceive of how literal fire can bring
torture to nonphysical beings, but the reality of unbearable
pain inflicted on Satan is unquestionable. However the Bible
may speak of that future punishment—whether as the lake of
fire, outer darkness (Matt. 8:12; 22:13; 25:30), wailing and
gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12; 13:42, 50; 22:13; 24:51;
25:30; Luke 13:28), a never-dying worm and unquenchable
fire (Mark 9:48), or fire and brimstone—it presents a picture
of mental agony and corporeal suffering combined in
proportion to the guilt of those who have sinned (Luke
12:47–48) . . .”704

THE TWO FOUNDATIONS
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and
doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his
house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was
founded upon a rock [Matt. 7:24–25].
If you have come to Christ, He is the foundation—“For other
foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11). When you are resting on Christ, you
can build on that foundation. By yielding to the Holy Spirit,
you can build a life which the Bible likens to gold, silver, and
precious stones.
But there is another kind of building—
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth
them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the
fall of it [Matt. 7:26–27].
What is that sand? It is human goodness and human effort. It
is the old weakness of the flesh. My friend, I say to you that
you need something better than the flesh has to offer.
Matthew concludes this section by saying—
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the
people were astonished at his doctrine:
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
scribes [Matt. 7:28–29].
Our Lord Jesus was that kind of teacher—He taught with
authority; He wasn’t just repeating something He had read.
And you and I need to recognize that we have nothing
worthwhile to say unless it is with the authority of the Word of
God and unless we believe it is the Word of God. I don’t
want to hear a man who gives me a string of theories, theories
which he himself has never tried and actually knows nothing
about. Today we have a gospel to give, a message of
salvation. We know it works because it has worked in our
case. And we have seen it work in the lives of others who
have come to Christ.
My friend, the Sermon on the Mount is a glorious passage of
Scripture. Don’t bypass it. If you read it aright, it will bring
you to the person of Jesus Christ. It will show you how you
fail to measure up to its precepts. It will show you that you
are weak and guilty. It will make you cry for mercy and will
bring you to the person of Christ for salvation. When you
accept Christ as Savior, He will give you the Holy Spirit who
will enable you to live on this high standard.

(Isaiah 23:1-23 NASB)
Judgment on the Earth
1 Behold, the LORD alays the earth waste, devastates
it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.
2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like
his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer like the
seller, the lender like the borrower, the acreditor like the
debtor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste and
completely despoiled, for the LORD has spoken this
word.
4 The aearth mourns and withers, the world fades and
withers, the bexalted of the people of the earth fade away.
5 The earth is also apolluted 1by its inhabitants, for they
transgressed laws, violated statutes, bbroke the everlasting
covenant.
6 Therefore, a acurse devours the earth, and those who
live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the binhabitants of the
earth are burned, and few men are left.
7 The anew wine mourns,
The vine decays,
All the merry-hearted sigh.
8 The agaiety of tambourines ceases,
The noise of revelers stops,
The gaiety of the harp ceases.
9 They do not drink wine with song;
aStrong drink is bbitter to those who drink it.
10 The acity of chaos is broken down;
bEvery house is shut up so that none may enter.
11 There is an aoutcry in the streets concerning the
wine;
bAll joy 1turns to gloom.
The gaiety of the earth is banished.
12 Desolation is left in the city
And the agate is battered to ruins.
13 For athus it will be in the midst of the earth among
the peoples,
As the 1shaking of an olive tree,
As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
14 aThey raise their voices, they shout for joy;
They cry out from the 1west concerning the majesty of the
LORD.
15 Therefore aglorify the LORD in the 1east,
The bname of the LORD, the God of Israel,
In the 2ccoastlands of the sea.
16 From the aends of the earth we hear songs, “bGlory
to the Righteous One,”
But I say, “1cWoe to me! 1Woe to me! Alas for me!
The dtreacherous deal treacherously,
And the treacherous deal very treacherously.”
17 aTerror and pit and snare
1Confront you, O inhabitant of the earth.
18 Then it will be that he who flees the 1report of
disaster will fall into the pit,
And he who 2climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare;
For the awindows 3above are opened, and the bfoundations
of the earth shake.
19 aThe earth is broken asunder,
The earth is bsplit through,
The earth is shaken violently.
20 The earth areels to and fro like a drunkard
And it totters like a 1shack,
For its btransgression is heavy upon it,
And it will fall, cnever to rise again.
21 So it will happen in that day,
That the LORD will apunish the host of 1heaven on high,
And the bkings of the earth on earth.
22 They will be gathered together
Like aprisoners in the 1dungeon,
And will be confined in prison;
And after many days they will bbe punished.
23 Then the amoon will be abashed and the sun
ashamed,
For the bLORD of hosts will reign on cMount Zion and in
Jerusalem,
And His glory will be before His elders.
24:1–23 On Judgment Day: Tottering like a tent. Having
warned several specific nations (see 13–23), Isaiah now
spoke in broader terms about God’s ultimate triumph over
evil
(24–25) and exaltation of Israel (see 26–27). He began
by describing a future time of universal suffering and
devastation
(24:1–13), sent by God because all humankind
had transgressed his laws
(24:5). A few will escape this
judgment, just as a few olives or grapes can be gleaned after
the harvest
(24:13), and they will rejoice (24:14–16; see
exposition on 10:20–23), but for most of humankind there will
be only judgment
(24:16–23). The earth will shake. It will
“stagger” like a “drunkard” and “tremble” like “a tent in a
storm”—clearly a description of the Tribulation.
Out of this terrible devastation, however, will come the
glorious light of Christ in his millennial kingdom
(24:23; see 60:19–20; Rev. 21:23; 22:5).
Because of its description of the Tribulation and Millennium,
24–27 is often called “Isaiah’s Apocalypse.” (Apocalypse is
Greek for “revelation”; the book of Revelation also describes
the Tribulation and Millennium.)
==
The Day of His Wrath
Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and
who shall be able to stand?
The Great Day is a Judgment Day of evil angels
Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains
under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
A battle is held on God’s Great Day
Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working
miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the
whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of
God Almighty.
The righteous are revealed on this day
Romans 2:5-11 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart
treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and
revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will
render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who
by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour
and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are
contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey
unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and
anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew
first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace,
to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to
the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Wicked have reservations to this day
Job 21:30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of
destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
Riches mean nothing on that day
Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but
righteousness delivereth from death.
==
And if you have trouble digesting what Jesus said to the rich
young ruler, then his description of the judgment day will stick
in your throat.
It’s a prophetic picture of the final day: “Many will say to me
on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name,
and in your name drive out demons and perform many
miracles?’ ” 4
Astounding. These people are standing before the throne of
God and bragging about themselves. The great trumpet has
sounded, and they are still tooting their own horns. Rather
than sing his praises, they sing their own. Rather than worship
God, they read their résumés. When they should be
speechless, they speak. In the very aura of the King they
boast of self. What is worse—their arrogance or their
blindness?
You don’t impress the officials at NASA with a paper
airplane. You don’t boast about your crayon sketches in the
presence of Picasso. You don’t claim equality with Einstein
because you can write “H2O.”
And you don’t boast about your goodness in the presence of
the Perfect.
“Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from
me, you evildoers.’ ” 5
Mark it down. God does not save us because of what we’ve
done. Only a puny god could be bought with tithes. Only an
egotistical god would be impressed with our pain. Only a
temperamental god could be satisfied by sacrifices. Only a
heartless god would sell salvation to the highest bidders.
And only a great God does for his children what they can’t do
for themselves.
That is the message of Paul: “For what the law was powerless
to do … God did.”6
And that is the message of the first beatitude.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit ….”

JUDGMENT DAY
The apostle begins by pointing out that although the believers
had suffered persecution, this was not a sign that the judgment
day had already come. It will be just the opposite when that
day actually does come. Believers will be rewarded;
oppressors will be condemned (1). Further, the day of the
Lord could not possibly have arrived yet, because it would be
preceded by a falling away from the faith and the appearance
of the man of lawlessness (known also as the son of perdition,
the man of sin, or the antichrist). Although the antichrist will
lead many astray, he will be destroyed by Christ at his coming
(2).
The letter draws to a close with further thanksgiving and
admonitions concerning prayer, ungodly living, and
disobedience. There is also a greeting written in Paul’s own
handwriting.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is a frequent theme
throughout Scripture, both in the Old Testament
(e.g., Deut 29:23; Isa 13:19; Amos 4:11) and in the New Testament
(e.g., Matt 10:15; II Pet 2:6; Jude 7), being used in both
testaments to warn that unrighteousness is fearsomely judged
by God. Sodom is used to symbolize abject decadence
(Lam 4:6; Rom 9:29; Rev 11:8), and Sodom and Gomorrah epitomize
God's abhorrence of homosexuality and all sexual depravity.
As Scripture puts the narrative of these two cities to these purposes,
we must be instructed in these points. In fact, this point is made
in the narrative itself, for 18:19 states plainly that God involved
Abraham in this episode so that he would learn from it and teach
his descendants (including his spiritual descendants) that it is
necessary to ??do righteousness and justice? in order to escape
God's judgment. II Peter 2:6 is an inspired commentary on the reason
Scripture includes this narrative, for it states plainly that
Sodom and Gomorrah were made ??an example for those who would live
ungodly thereafter. This theme of judgment occurs many times in
Scripture, but nowhere more graciously than John 3:18, where the
means of attaining righteousness, and thereby avoiding judgment,
is also disclosed.
==
This event vividly displays God?s abhorrence and condemnation of
all sexual sin (Jer 23:14; Ezek 16:46?58), homosexuality (Jude 7),
and of blatant, rebellious sin (Isa 3:9). This is in harmony with
Leviticus 18 and 20:10?21 which state God?s absolute and unambiguous
position against licentiousness, incest, homosexuality, and sexual
aberrations. However, the passage is not all condemnatory in its
instruction, for it also reminds us that God will both rescue the
righteous and judge the unrighteous (II Pet 2:6?14). Jesus Christ
cited the punishment of Sodom and Gomorrah as an example of the
final judgment and a standard by which to gauge that judgment.

True and False Conversions
Overview: http://Bibleweb.Info/Bibleweb.Info-True-and-False-Conversionsf.pdf
True and False Conversions (58 min) There is an entire industry built around
proving precious items - like diamonds and gold - to be authentic -
the "real thing". And, since the Bible says our faith is more precious than
gold, our Christianity should be tested to see if IT is real - or fake.
From a Bible teacher's perspective, this task is NOT a job for the
faint-hearted. So we again enlisted evangelist Ray Comfort, known
for his signature "pull-no punches" style. Using some important litmus tests,
Pastor Comfort helps all professing Christians who are willing...
to "examine themselves to see if they are in the faith".

Are We There Yet?
Heaven & Hell: Biblical Images of the Afterlife (1 hr)
- Are Heaven and Hell real places?
- Where are they located?
- What will they be like?
- And who is destined to spend eternity there?
Heaven & Hell examines the histories of both places. How did they
come to be? What events dictated their creation? What, if anything,
lies for us beyond the grave? As human beings we are drawn to these
same timeless questions. The Bibles view of the afterlife is
embraced by more people living today than any other generation in
history. Interviews with noted authors, scholars and theologians
including George H. Gallup, Jr. (George H. Gallup International
Institute, and author of Adventures in Immortality), Joni
Eareckson-Tada (author of Heaven: Your Real Home), and Dr. Larry
Poland (theologian, educator and author of 2084) will cast light on
the spiritual mysteries of Heaven and Hell. The video incorporates
dramatic recreations, art of the masters and leading edge computer
animation to present visual clues to the physical characteristics
of Heaven and Hell. Heaven & Hell will strengthen the faith of
those who believe and challenge the skepticism of those who doubt
the existence of either place.
George H. Gallup Jr. provides the statistics (53 percent of
Americans believe in Hell, 70 percent in Heaven), and two religious
authors and a priest provide the spiritual interpretation in this
exploration of the basis of belief in the afterlife. The video is
divided into segments on Revelation, Hell, and Heaven, and actors
read Biblical passages underlining the narration by Ed Ragozzino
and the scholarly input. Apostle John's dramatized visions of the
end of the world and the Second Coming, images of Hell (hint: fire
is involved), and an artist's depiction of the 1,500-square-mile
cube that would be the heavenly New Jerusalem bring the content
alive. Father Pompei of Philadelphia compares his parish
neighborhood to Hell, and author Joni Eareckson Tada (Heaven: Your
Real Home) movingly describes how she came to look forward to a
heavenly afterlife, and the new body she believes will come with
it, after an accident in her teens left her paralyzed from the neck
down. Author and theologian Dr. Larry Poland (2084) rounds out the
panel of experts. --Kimberly Heinrichs

You know, when one does not believe in something, one either simply
ignores it, or says very little about it. But it is obvious, in your
foam in the mouth hatred, that you are angry at something, probably the
result of your empty pathetic and sick self and family.
I could just imagine the skeletons in your closet. The privilege of
being of physician, should be taken away from you; a rotten creature
that displays such hatred towards God and humanity.
But as always, there is peace in my soul, so I pray that you may receive
the Truth one day, along with your buddy Dr. Chung and his rising cult.

It's hard to tell which side of the coin you're on here.
Since you're on the convict list, why to you speak of "hatred towards 'God'"
This sounds like you are a believer.
And then "hatred towards God and humanity"
And "so I pray"
These are your thoughts yet you're flaming Chung. I don't get it.

In any case,
Propitiation!
A man in Texas had the urge for a midnight snack. So he rolled out of bed
and walked down the hallway toward the kitchen. Passing the nursery, he
noticed his three-month-old son’s bassinet toppled on the floor. Racing
back into the bedroom, he woke his wife to see if she had taken the baby
from the bassinet, but his wife was sound asleep and knew nothing of the
matter. Panic filled his heart as he ran down the hall, down the stairs,
and into the living room, where, much to his horror and shock, he saw his
twelve-foot pet python with a large lump in its center. He knew
immediately what happened to his baby. In anger and outrage, he went to
the back porch, grabbed a splitting maul, chopped up the snake, and ran
out of the front door screaming. He was later committed to a mental
institution.
This true story haunts me and is helpful to me in understanding a
biblical concept often misunderstood by people who wrestle with theology.
You see, although people do not have a problem when we talk about the
love of God, the wrath and judgment of God are things with which people
struggle. Yet if the man in Texas was justified in smashing that snake,
how much more is God justified in dealing with snakelike people who have
devoured others mindlessly and heartlessly.
I think of what happened in Somalia. Tens of thousands of babies starved.
Why? Because war lords were fighting for territory geographically,
jockeying for position politically, and preventing food from reaching
kids who were dying needlessly.
I think of what happened in Bosnia Herzegovina—where women were raped and
men slaughtered by the thousands, all in the name of ethnic cleansing.
I think of Medford, Oregon, where the school board forbids the
distribution of Bibles on school campuses as well as the use of any
school buildings to be rented to any church group for any reason. I
think, wonder, and ponder how it can be that a society that distributes
condoms refuses to allow the distribution of Scripture.
Why does God allow this insanity? Why does He, who sees not only the
tragedy of Bosnia and Somalia, but the utter depravity of even the most
seemingly together person, put up with a world so bent on
self-destruction?
The answer is very simple: Because God made man in His image, He gave him
the ability to choose. And when man chose to listen to the hissing of
Satan rather than to the Word of God, he unknowingly handed dominion of
the planet over to Satan. That’s why Jesus called Satan the prince of
this world (John 14:30) and why Paul called him the god of this world (2
Corinthians 4:4). In the Garden of Eden, man turned this planet over to
Satan. That’s why there are diseases and rape, war, death, and sadness on
our planet. It’s not a matter of God allowing these things. It’s a matter
of man giving Satan the authority to cause them.
Meanwhile, God looks down from heaven, and, as He was in Noah’s day, is
filled with righteous indignation (Genesis 6:5–7). Yet even in Noah’s
day, man found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8). God looked at
Noah, had grace on Noah, and did a work through Noah. So, too, He will
again pour out His wrath in the period called the Tribulation.
Until then, however, what’s the solution for the very genuine wrath God
feels concerning snakelike creatures like you and me? The answer is
propitiation. Why such a big word? Because no smaller word would suffice.
The Greek word translated “propitiation” is hilasterion, which means “to
appease the wrath of.” We often say, “God hates the sin but loves the
sinner.” While that is true, it is at best a shallow understanding
because the distinction between sin and sinner is not so easily made. You
see, I am not only the baby devoured by the python. I am the python. I am
a victim of sin, yes—but I am also its perpetrator.
Sin hurts people. It destroys mankind. It’s cruel, vicious, and wrong.
And my own sin is no less devastating. Thus, God is understandably filled
with righteous indignation, which can only be appeased through
propitiation.
The people of Israel, having been delivered from Egypt, were on their way
to the land promised to them—a land flowing with milk and honey and
wonderful blessings. But en route, they started murmuring and complaining
(Numbers 21:5). The sin of complaining led to suffering in verse 6 as the
people were bitten by poisonous snakes. Suffering led to sorrow in verse
7. Sorrow led to salvation in verses 8, 9, when those who looked upon the
brass serpent were healed. Who was the Brass Serpent? Jesus (John
3:14–16).
Propitiation is God wielding a splitting maul upon the snake, the Brass
Serpent, Jesus Christ—instead of upon me. Am I calling Jesus Christ the
snake? Yes, because He who knew no sin became sin for us (2 Corinthians
5:21) in order that the wrath of the Father over the sin of the world
would be appeased. Instead of smashing a world that is snakelike and
bestial, He turned to His innocent Son and laid upon Him the iniquity of
us all.
Jesus understood this. That’s why in the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed
with such intensity, “Father, if possible, don’t let Me drink of this
cup” (see Matthew 26:39). Socrates took the cup of hemlock and drank it
bravely. Was Jesus less than Socrates? No. It wasn’t physical death Jesus
feared; it was the wrath of His Father that caused Him to break out in a
bloody sweat (Luke 22:44). Jesus knew what it meant to be the
propitiation, the satisfaction, the appeasement of wrath.
“The Father pouring out His anger upon His innocent Son is a form of
child abuse,” you say. Wait a minute. What is the name of the Son?
Almighty God, Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6). You see, God Himself
became a Man and absorbed the wrath of His own indignation. The mystery
of the Trinity, the mystery of propitiation is that God actually wielded
the splitting maul upon Himself.
Hilasterion, or “propitiation”—the word we don’t hear much today—is used
only five times in the entire New Testament: Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:1–2; 1
John 4:10; and Hebrews 9 are four of them. The Hebrews reference, I
believe, is a real key to unlocking this understanding, for in describing
the mercy seat, the author of Hebrews uses the word hilasterion. The
mercy seat, or hilasterion, covered the ark of the covenant. The ark of
the covenant contained the law. Therefore, through the mercy seat, God
says, “I know you’ve broken the law. I know you deserve to be consumed
because of it. But I’m going to put a lid on it through the sacrifice of
My Son. He is the helasmos, the mercy seat, the propitiation. It’s not
something He gives. It’s who He is, for He has come between you and the
broken law. The wrath that I should vent on you was instead placed upon
My Son, who died in your place.”
The fifth use of the word “propitiation” is found in Luke 18. If you feel
offended that I would liken you to a baby-eating python, if you are
repulsed by a God who would became a Man and slaughter Himself to
propitiate His righteous indignation, Luke 18:10–14 is the passage for
you. It is a brief vignette, concerning the prayers of a Pharisee and a
tax collector. Look at verse 13: “God, be merciful to me a sinner.” It
begins with “God” and ends with “sinner.” The middle phrase, “be
merciful”—the verb form of hilasterion—stands between God and sin. Every
one of us is in one of two categories. You’re either the self-righteous
Pharisee, or you’re the tax collector, grateful that Jesus is standing
between God and your sin.
What does a correct understanding of the concept of propitiation do?
Propitiation blows my mind. Propitiation adds an entirely different
dimension to what Paul calls “so great salvation” (Hebrews 2:3). It’s not
just the Father saying, “I’m going to settle mankind’s problem
judicially.” No, He deals with it personally.
Propitiation warms my heart. That God would love me so much He would
actually become the object of His own wrath touches my heart in a
profound way.
Propitiation weakens my knees. Considering the righteous wrath of a
powerful God makes me realize that sin is serious. The Bible says the
beginning of wisdom is to fear God (Proverbs 1:7). And it goes on to say
that to fear God is to hate sin (Proverbs 8:13). The concept of
propitiation makes me question my own view of sin. How do I react when I
see things on the screen or hear unkind words come from my own mouth? If
you’re knowingly sinning today in what you’re doing, or where you’re
going, I encourage you to think through propitiation.
Propitiation tickles my toes. Jacob was in a place he called Luz, or
“separation” After tricking his brother Esau out of his birthright and
blessing, he was in the wilderness running for his life. That night, as
he laid his head on a rock and tried to sleep, God revealed Himself to
him, pouring out a blessing upon him and giving a promise to him. Jacob
woke up and said, “Surely I am in the presence of God and I knew it not.”
And he changed the name of the location from Luz to “Bethel,” or “house
of God.” Then, as we read in Genesis 29:1, Jacob “went on his journey.”
Translated literally this phrase reads, “Jacob had happy feet.”
“I’m a creep. I’m a crook. I’m a criminal,” he said, “but the Lord met
me, has a plan for me, and is going to travel with me. Now I have happy
feet.”
So, too, I say, “Oh, Lord, I know I’m a sinner. But because You absorbed
the anger that should have been poured out upon me, I leave here today
with tickled toes, weakened knees, a warmed heart, and a blown mind!”
May God continue to give us a comprehension of His love through an
understanding of propitiation.
In Jesus’ Name.

A Topical Study of Romans 3:23–25
(Romans 3:23-25 NASB)
23 for all ?1??a?have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified as a gift ?a?by His grace through ?b?the
redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
25 whom God displayed publicly as ?a?a ?1?propitiation ?2??b?in
His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness,
?3?because in the ?c?forbearance of God He ?d?passed over the sins
previously committed;
[2]
3:25 God set forth Christ Jesus as a propitiation. A propitiation is a
means by which justice is satisfied, God’s wrath is averted, and mercy
can be shown on the basis of an acceptable sacrifice.
Three times in the ?NT? Christ is spoken of as a propitiation. Here in
Romans 3:25 we learn that those who put their faith in Christ find mercy
by virtue of His shed blood. In 1 John 2:2 Christ is described as the
propitiation for our sins, and for those of the whole world. His work is
sufficient for the whole world but is only effective for those who put
their trust in Him. Finally, in 1 John 4:10, God’s love was manifested in
sending His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
The prayer of the publican in Luke 18:13 was literally “God be propitious
to me, the sinner.” He was asking God to show mercy to him by not
requiring him to pay the penalty of his aggravated guilt.
The word propitiation also occurs in Hebrews 2:17: “Therefore, in all
things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful
and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make
propitiation for the sins of the people.” Here the expression “to make
propitiation” means to put away by paying the penalty.
The ?OT? equivalent of the word propitiation is mercy-seat. The
mercy-seat was the lid of the ark. On the Day of Atonement the high
priest sprinkled the mercy- seat with the blood of a sacrificial victim.
By this means errors of the high priest and of the people were atoned for
or covered.
When Christ made propitiation for our sins, He went much further. He not
only covered them but did away with them completely.
Now Paul tells us in 3:25 that God set Christ forth as a propitiation by
His blood, through faith. We are not told to put our faith in His blood;
Christ Himself is the object of our faith. It is only a resurrected and
living Christ Jesus who can save. He is the propitiation. Faith in Him is
the condition by which we avail ourselves of the propitiation. His blood
is the price that was paid.
The finished work of Christ declares God’s righteousness for the
remission of sins that are past. This refers to sins committed before the
death of Christ. From Adam to Christ, God saved those who put their faith
in Him on the basis of whatever revelation He gave them. Abraham, for
example, believed God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness (Gen.
15:6). But how could God do this righteously? A sinless Substitute had
not been slain. The blood of a perfect Sacrifice had not been shed. In a
word, Christ had not died. The debt had not been paid. God’s righteous
claims had not been met. How then could God save believing sinners in the
OT period?
The answer is that although Christ had not yet died, God knew that He
would die, and He saved men on the basis of the still-future work of
Christ. Even if ?OT? saints didn’t know about Calvary, God knew about it,
and He put all the value of Christ’s work to their account when they
believed God. In a very real sense, ?OT? believers were saved on credit.
They were saved on the basis of a price still to be paid. They looked
forward to Calvary; we look back to it.
That is what Paul means when he says that the propitiation of Christ
declares God’s righteousness because He had passed over the sins that
were previously committed. He is not speaking, as some wrongly think, of
sins which an individual person has committed before his conversion. This
might suggest that the work of Christ took care of sins before the new
birth, but that a man is on his own after that. No, he is dealing with
the seeming leniency of God in apparently overlooking the sins of those
who were saved before the cross. It might seem that God excused those
sins or pretended not to see them. Not so, says Paul. The Lord knew that
Christ would make full expiation, and so He saved men on that basis.
So the ?OT? period was a time of the forbearance of God. For at least
4000 years He held back His judgment on sin. Then in the fullness of time
He sent His Son to be the Sin-bearer. When the Lord Jesus took our sins
upon Himself, God unleashed the full fury of His righteous, holy wrath on
the Son of His love.

Such is the behavior of those who are eternally condemned for their
tragically unwise choice to blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
You're a false prophet, put another god before yahweh, worship crucifix idols, pretend to speak for yahweh etc.
You better hope there is no god... WHAT’S EATING YOU?
(Acts 12:20-23 NASB)
Death of Herod
20 Now he was very angry with the people of ?a?Tyre and Sidon; and
with one accord they came to him, and having won over Blastus the
king’s chamberlain, they were asking for peace, because ?b?their
country was fed by the king’s country.
21 On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took
his seat on the ?1?rostrum and began delivering an address to them.
22 The people kept crying out, “The voice of a god and not of a
man!”
23 And immediately ?a?an angel of the Lord struck him because he
did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and ?1?died.
[1]
When we talk about giving God glory, people get very confused. Why are we to
give God glory? Is He insecure? Does He have a poor self-image? Does He need
us to gather together and tell Him how wonderful He is so He’ll feel better
about Himself? No. God doesn’t need us—but He does love us. And He knows
that, although He doesn’t need our praise, we need to praise. He knows it is
in thanksgiving and in glorifying Him that we are de-wormed. He knows that,
like Herod, if we do not honor Him, worms will destroy us.
Following are three worms that will torment us, gnaw on us, and ultimately
devour us if we do not give God glory and thanksgiving continually.
The Worm of Anxiety
Paul wrote that in everything we are to give thanks to the Lord (Ephesians
5:20). Why? Because, as James wrote, every good and perfect gift comes from
above (1:17).
If I think the job I have, the house in which I live, the family I enjoy are
mine because I have worked hard and have been clever and diligent, I will
eventually be eaten up by the worm of anxiety because I will either be
worried about maintaining what I have or attaining what I don’t. If I say,
“I have health because of my commitment to physical fitness, success because
of my business acumen, and a place on the baseball team because of my
athletic prowess,” I will be consumed by worry because if I strived to
attain these things, I’ll have to strive to maintain them.
If you believe you are where you are today because of your diligence, your
ability, your personality, or your creativity—you will be eaten up with
anxiety. On the other hand, if you believe every good gift comes from above,
you realize you neither earned nor deserve the blessings in your life. And
since you didn’t work for them, since they are yours by God’s grace, you can
trust in Him and give thanks to Him for where you are today.
Then, if the job doesn’t work out, if the relationship goes kaput, if you
get cut from the team, you can say, “Lord, You gave it to me in the first
place. And if you’re taking it away from me now, then I know it’s ultimately
for my good and your glory.” And when you thank the Lord for whatever
situation you’re in and give Him glory for everything you’ve enjoyed, you’ll
be at peace—wonderful peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Miriam led the children of Israel in praise and worship as they danced and
celebrated after God miraculously parted the Red Sea (Exodus 15:20). But do
you recall what the children of Israel were doing before the Lord parted the
Sea? They were complaining and murmuring (Exodus 14:11, 12). They were
stressed out. They were uptight. They were eaten up. How much better it
would have been for the people to dance before the Lord and give glory to
Him before the Red Sea parted—while they were trapped and boxed in by the
Sea in front of them and the Egyptians behind them.
It’s relatively easy to give thanks after the answer has come. But how much
better for your health, your faith, your witness, if you’ll take up the
tambourine in faith before you see the Red Sea part—and watch the worm of
anxiety drown in the waters of praise!
The Worm of Perversity
Romans 1 gives us the pathway to perversion…
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that
which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto
them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal
power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they
knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became
vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory
of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to
birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave
them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor
their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a
lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is
blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women
did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise
also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one
toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving
in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. Romans
1:18–27
When a man, a woman, or a society stops glorifying God and giving Him
thanks, perversion is the ultimate result. Oh, we might not make idols of
men and birds of wood and stone as they did in Paul’s day—but we fashion
rock idols, Hollywood idols, and political idols. We might not worship
creeping things and four-footed animals anymore—but we teach our kids that
they came from primordial slime and evolved into monkeys.
We are surrounded in this country by perversity that leads to homosexuality
and God’s judgment inevitably. And, according to Romans 1:21, it all began
when we stopped giving God thanks. I’m so sorry about our culture. I take
responsibility for it and repent to the Lord concerning it. Like Herod, our
society is being devoured by the worm of perversity because, as a nation, we
refuse to glorify God.
The Worm of Negativity
A man or woman who does not continually give thanks in everything becomes
vulnerable to the worm of negativity. He or she will become grumpy, grouchy,
and cynical. The way to escape from the worm of negativity is to give thanks
to God continually.
In the late 1800s, when cotton was undisputed king of the South, every
cotton plantation in Coffee County, Alabama, was wiped out by the boll
weevil. The economic fallout was disastrous, causing the Christians in the
little town of Enterprise to meet together and pray, “We thank You, Lord,
that You have blessed us for so many years with cotton. Now it’s gone, but
we know You work all things together for good. So we trust You.”
Following their prayer meeting, the town of Enterprise decided to change
crops from cotton to peanuts. Now, although peanuts at that time were
virtually unknown, there was a man of exceptional intelligence—one of the
greatest thinkers in our country’s history—who in the same year the folks of
Enterprise felt the Lord nudging them to plant peanuts, was also talking to
the Lord. A wonderful believer, with a deep interest in astronomy, he
prayed, “Father, teach me the secrets of the universe.” Then he hung his
head and said, “Lord, I know that’s too presumptuous to ask. Just teach me
about the peanut.”
The man’s name, of course, was George Washington Carver—and how the Lord
answered his prayer! Beginning in 1895, Carver developed over three hundred
products from the lowly peanut—of which the primary discovery, as far as I’m
concerned, was peanut butter! As a result of George Washington Carver’s
discoveries, suddenly there was an unexpected, unprecedented demand for
peanuts. And Coffee County began to prosper beyond belief. What had been a
disaster became a blessing. What had been adversity became prosperity—all
because instead of being eaten up by the worm of negativity, the people of
Enterprise glorified God.
If you go to Enterprise today, you will see a monument in the town square
with a boll weevil on top and this inscription underneath:
In profound appreciation for the boll weevil and what he has done as the
herald of prosperity, this monument is erected by the grateful citizens of
Coffee County, Alabama. All things work together for good (see Romans 8:28).
The Scriptures proclaim that pride goes before a fall. “Your sin will find
you out” (Numbers 32:23 nlt); “Pride goes before destruction.” (Proverbs
16:18 nlt); “You will always reap what you sow!” (Galatians 6:7 nlt). By
foolishly setting himself against God and refusing to give him glory, Herod
guaranteed his own disastrous demise: he was “consumed with worms” (12:23
nlt).[2]
PRIDE BEFORE THE FALL
For political advantage, Herod Agrippa I had killed James, imprisoned Peter,
and persecuted the Christians (12:1–4). Because religion was important to
Herod only as an aspect of politics, he had no reverence for God and no
qualms about receiving praise that only God should have. God hates arrogance
and pride (see 1 Samuel 15:23; Proverbs 8:13; Isaiah 13:11). This event
demonstrates that judgment belongs to God; he will judge those who defy him.
Don’t let your position or accomplishments make you proud. Pride can shut
you off from the truth and lead you away from God.
[3]
“The pride of man had ended in the wrath of God.”5 13[4]
Gang, you and I can be de-wormed by giving God glory. May He give us wisdom
and application. And may this be the most un-wormy congregation in the whole
country!
[5]
Those who set themselves against God are doomed to ultimate failure.[6]
In the End: (Acts 12:24 NASB)
24 But ?a?the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be
multiplied. [7]
God’s Words Stands Forever!
UNSTOPPABLE
Try as they might to stop the spread of the gospel, the enemies of God could
only sit by and watch more and more people put their faith in Christ. The
church was a juggernaut, guided and energized by almighty God. The same is
true today. Nothing—no government, no law, no evil leader, no amount of
persecution—can stop God from adding to his church.
