God=G_uv STEVE UNWIN COMMENTARY

[Note: Scot McDermid's post has so impressed me with it's
clarity and rational seriousness, that I am posting Steve Unwin's
comments as a "trailer" to his remarkable post]


Many amateurs have commented on God=G_uv.
I thought it would be of interest to them to hear the
reaction and comments of an internationally famous
PhD in Physics.
I am struggling to receive more high level professional
commentary such as this.


NOTE:
Stephen Unwin PhD (physics) is author of
_The Probability of God_ (Crown Forum, 2003) in which he
uses Bayesian probability to calculate the probability is
67% that God exists.
A 1 page review by Michael Shermer appears in the July
issue of Scientific American Magazine on page 46.

Finding this out, I emailed Dr. Steve Unwin and we exchanged several
E's concerning the scientific proof of God I have published...(see my
website at bottom of page).

Anyway... the following is an email conversation that took place between
me and Steve Unwin which I thought might give some guidance to the many
amateurs commenting on the theory as to what a truly professional
reaction to the theory sounds like.

Hello Dr. Unwin,

Hi George. I read your paper, which is certainly a new approach to defining
God.
I have only a few miscellaneous points:

1. I wonder what the implications of an 11-dimensional spacetime manifold
(as
now posited in superstring theory) might be on your ideas, which seem to be
based on 4 spacetime dimensions.

[GH]:
As you have so ably stated in your book, we are talking about:

".. the person-God of the major monotheistic religions."
(Stephen Unwin 2003, p. 17)

this God exists in 4-dimensional spacetime.
Of course sophisticated people realize that there is also a
"cosmological God" which Einstein said he believed in.. in fact
he said he did not believe in a "personal God" (person-God).
Ironically, it turns out his theory of General Relativity
proves that the person-God actually exists (cf. my paper).
Turns out his view is wrong, there is BOTH a classical
person-God and a (quantum) Cosmological God, and of course
the latter explains the former. However, the former has now
been discovered and proven while the latter is awaiting
the discovery of Quantum Gravity etc. The classical person-God
is of course the work horse of religion and has been for 3,500
years. And His existence has been debated for just as long!
GOD=G_uv proves that the person-God is caused by gravity, which
means that the "cosmological God" must be explained by quantum
gravity. This is where the "11-dimensions" of String Theory
come in. They are NOT needed to prove the existence of the
person-God of Classical religion that you and I and the rest of
the world are all talking about.

2. If G mu nu = God, then the implication is that God doesn't exist in flat
spacetimes where G mu nu is zero. In fact, most of space is approximately
flat,
with the exception of singularities (black holes). Does this mean God is
nonexistent, or at least marginal, everywhere but near black holes?


[GH]:
I assume you only glossed the paper. God is a curvature of
PERCEPTUAL SPACETIME not real spacetime. The G_uv tensor
actually exists in Psychometry Space and describes the
curvature (subjective space and time dilations) seen by
real people. Ungrown children 4, 8, 12 years old for instance
see an ENORMOUSLY CURVED WORLD... their space and time dilations
are in the double digits percentagewise. This is why we say
"God protects children". Adults (you and I) have a "terminal
growth deficit" which explains why we believe there is a "God".
You of course have a smaller growth deficit than me.. as can
be readily seen by simply looking at us... you are closer
to "Kingdom Come" than I am. "God in Heaven" is no where near
(subjectively) as large to you as it is to me... on the other
hand a hi-growth person like you has to spend a lot of time
worrying about the effects of a huge God on the behavior of
billions and billions of lo-growthcurve people like me, the
"loneliness of command" as it were. I suppose this is why
they say all people are created equal.

3. It's interesting that you'd equate God with the gravitational force.
There's
a book out called "God at the Speed of Light" in which the author equates
God
with light (the electromagnetic force). I wonder if God is bigger than each
of
them.

[GH]:
George Gamow guessed the same thing 60 years ago when he
wrote a fictional story where the speed of light was only
10 mph. People could "see relativity". Of course, he had
the suspicion that Special Relativity might therefore explain
God. He was ahead of his time, it turns out GR not SR
explains God. Quantum Gravity in the brain (Penrose 1994)
causes a HUGE VIRTUAL CLASSICAL GRAVITY CURVATURE in human
perception, and this is the explanation of the person-God
that you have CORRECTLY CALCULATED exists with a 67% probability.
Congratulations on that BTW.. you're the first physicist
since DesCartes to so candidly publish such conviction!
I suspect you are destined to become world famous for doing so...
(mainly because there is now a published proof to back you up).
I also suspect there is a large watershed of rational plaincloth
scientific talent from our socio-cultural constituency who
suspect the same thing. We simply can't be alone...can we?

Oh, I thought Guv was in literal spacetime. I guess then that in the
perceptual
space, a new born baby would be the analogy of a singularity (big bang
rather

Interestingly, this final comment by STEVE UNWIN has had a dramatic
consequence.
For over two years I had been trying to figure out what the "spacetime
analog" of mass distribution would be to the psychometric equation:

GOD = G_uv = T_uv = BGD = Brain Growth Deficit

We know that the BGD goes from 100% to 0% during childhood growth
(actually it never reaches 0 but gets to about 15%).
In my paper it is shown that this corresponds to a T_uv of the
following form:
BGD
T_uv = rho = mass density = ----------
1 - BGD

When the BGD is 1 (at conception) this corresponds to a "spacetime
mass density" of INFINITY. When the BGD goes to 0 (full growth)
the "virtual spacetime mass density" goes to 0. All this agrees with
the observation that the CURVATURE G_uv starts at INFINITY when
we are conceived (birth) and then heads towards ZERO as we grow
up for the first 18 years.... of course it never gets to zero,
it stops at about 15% for most people, and this TERMINAL CURVATURE
is what we have been calling "GOD" for 3,000 years.

My dilemma, is that I couldn't visualize or discover a real
world "disappearing mass density" that would be able to correspond
to the "disappearing BGD" during childhood growth. The mass
density that would have the property of:

1. Starting at INFINITY everywhere (infinite mass density)
2. Proceeding to "mysteriously" go towards ZERO everywhere.

UNTIL STEVE UNWIN SUGGESTED
THAT "BIRTH" WAS A "BIG BANG"

I then realized immediately, that a "Big Bang" is EXACTLY the
description of the variable mass density going from INFINITY
to ZERO that is described above.... indeed, the CURVATURE
during a Big Bang starts as INFINITY and goes towards ZERO.
the "mysterious" mass density disappearance is caused by the
"expansion of space" during a Big Bang.
So what this tells us, it that childhood growth is "classically"
identical to a "Big Bang" and therefore it must involve a
"Hubble expansion of perceptual Reality" !! Our experience
of "reality" during our childhood is governed and described by
a "Hubble expansion of reality", for chrissakes!!

I am continuing to work on this discovery at the present time.

Anyway... this shows you what the offhand and serendipitous comment
of a real professional can result in at this present early stage of the
discovery. The theory is OBVIOUSLY a gold mine just sitting ready to
be tapped by any competent scientist who happens to come across it.
God only knows what else there is left to be discovered about the
equation: GOD=G_uv !! How much longer will the world have to wait
to find out?
