Proof that there are an infinite number of gods |
One of the most common argument for the existence of god is:
1. Humans are too complex to have evolved entirely by chance.
2. We must have had a supreme creator.
3. God is that supreme creator.
4. Therefore, God exists.
We can extend this in the following way. Let God_n be the nth god.
1. God_n is too complex to have evolved entirely by chance.
2. God_n must have a supreme creator.
3. God_(n+1) is that supreme creator.
4. Therefore, God_(n+1) exists.
Defining humans to be God_0, and God to be God_1, this proves that
there are an infinite number of gods.

One of the most common argument for the existence of god is:

Where this argument falls down is in the first line. It is merely a
statement that has neither any foundations or basis. Show me the proof that
humans are too complex to have evolved entirely by chance that does not
involve superstitious / religious / intelligent design types of "proof"
please?
Ergo, there is no need for a supreme creator - therefore the god theory is
false. QED.

B.T.W. Why are religious people so sure that god exists, it makes no

Well i don't accept the original so I don't accept the extension.
However the idea that the original implies the extension has been
around for a long time - usually with the provocation "Who made God?"

demonstrated. Offers Bible verses & apologetics (C.S. Lewis, Josh
McDowell, or Ray Comfort). Attacks Theory of Evolution: claims Atheist
worships science. Proclaims everyone must believe to be saved.
Atheist (AT): Offers criticisms as applicable (such as Problem of
Evil; incompatibility of omniscience/free will or faith/evidence;
inability to verify god's existence; any complication of Bible
canonization process). Points out atheism is not reliant on Theory of
Evolution; provides examples of observable evolution; explains
observable benefits of Scientific Method in determining truth of
claims of fact, such as god's existence.
AP: Counters Bible calls unbelievers "fools." Makes unsupported claims
of knowledge (such as "there are no examples of speciation," "Hitler
was an atheist," or "It's been proven Jesus lived"). Uses threat of
Hell & presents Pascal's Wager.
AT: Provides links to sources showing claims are false; points out
that Hell is not threatening to unbelievers; offers one of several
rebuttals to Pascal's Wager; asks follow up questions (most of which
will go unanswered throughout the exchange).

AP: Finally begins checking sources before presenting claims. Forced
to find new, unfamiliar, material. AP misunderstands context &
implications (such as invoking entropy without regard to open verses
closes systems). Does not check for potential rebuttles to new
material before posting to AT (who has [along with every other skeptic
online] rebutted the new information with every AP's challenge so
far). Offers ad hominims: AT must be consumed be pride/sin/evil/
immorality to be in denial, and/or hate god. May also appeal to claims
of "special knowledge," if he/she has not done so already.
AT: Points out that one cannot hate what one does not believe exists.
Points out AP's misunderstanding of new concepts presented. Provides
sources. Explains ideas & processes in more detail. If AP claimed
special knowledge, AT points out it is also claimed by others with
conflicting doctrines & competing religions, & it would appear to be
be unhelpful in determining truth.

AP: Claims AT cannot prove "there is no god."
AT: Explains falsifiability & Burden of Proof.
AP: Offers that "there is no god" IS a claim.
AT: Points out that he/she has not claimed "there is no god" but has
only rejected AP's claim "god exists." Explains god's existence/
nonexistence is not logically dependant on whether or not AP's claims
can be logically supported or verified, & that rejecting AP's claim
"god exists" is not equivalent to claiming "there is no god."
AP: Responds triumphantly that AT has now been converted to
agnosticism.
AT: Recognizes ignorance. Provides classical definitions of "atheist"
& "agnostic".
REPEAT ABOVE TWO STEPS APPROXIMATELY TWENTY OR MORE TIMES.
AP: Leaves with statement that includes following elements: 1) The
choice is yours; 2) you have to have faith; 3) I can't "prove" my god
to you; 4) I hope one day you will see the truth; 5) I will pray for
your soul.
AT: Left bewildered that AP cannot logically support belief in god's
existence yet continues to believe in god.

This points out how illogical the "specified complexity" argument. If
life is too complex to have evolved, and this is supposed to
necessitate a creator, the creator then would have to be more complex
than that which he created, and thus you begin on the path towards
infinite regress.
