If we applied some of the same modifications to the Bible as the YECs
apply to science, what would happen to their 'science'? Much of their
'science' ,in trying to prove the Earth to be 6000 years old, uses the
constancy, or more correctly, their concept of an inconstancy of
physical laws, such as the speed of light which they claim has slowed
down since the creation.
What if the earth spun a lot faster back then than it does now, say 10
times faster. God could have created the Universe in 1/10 the time that
he did, which is much more likely for such a powerful being. That means
that those humans the Bible claims had such long lives, and that the
Earth's age has been calculated using, were actually living the normal
human lifespan. If we look at the Bible we see extremely long lifespans
that more or less reduce gradually over time. Since the ages are
calculated using the number of years, which are based on 365 days/year
it seems logical that the earth's spin has been slowing down, although,
now that I think about it, it is possible that the speed of the earth's
orbit has also decreased.
This reduction in speed of the Earth's rotation is born out by modern
science and has actually been measured. The Earth is also sneaking up on
the sun, with a small but measurable reduction in distance between the
two. Is this crawl towards the sun evidence of a reducing orbital speed?
Using YEC logic, I believe so. Using YEC logic I also know that no
matter how fast the Earth spins, God will hold us down.
This would mean that the Universe is not 6000 years old but much
younger. Anybody with a better grasp of calculus than I do care to take
a stab at the 'true' age of the earth?

emotionally modifies evidence to fit the bible.
