Did you know that the "Average" American spends
27 hours filling out their tax forms?
Did you know that 55% of Americans want a flat
tax, one that taxes the rich at the exact same rate
as the poor & middle class?
That's what NBC's Brooke Hart reported this
morning, doing her part to molest the truth in
honor of our new god, George Bush.
* If any non-Americans are out there, maybe I
* should take this moment to assure you that
* the average American spends no where near
* 27 hours filling out tax forms. I personally
* completed a friend's state & federal forms
* in less than an hour.
I Tivoed the "report". Heck, I burned it onto DvD.
Brooke, a certified media ***** & puppet of
the administration, first spilled this *****
than presented us with our Lord & Savior,
George Bush, whom (now in his second term,
according to her) wants to "Simplify" things for
us little people he cares so much about, give us
that flat-tax rate we've all been screaming for.
Ironically, Brooke's "Michael Jackson imitation"
on the truth followed another story on Bush's
bankruptcy reform. Corporations are still safe to
create dummy companies & then declare bankruptcy
after taking your cash, but individuals -- you know,
"The little guy" -- are officially screwed.
According to the reporters own words, the new
bill uses your income level to determine if you
will be forced pay, or if all your assets will be
liquidated.
Ah, "Compassion."
Anyhow, I've got the broadcast on Tivo and I
even burned it onto DvD. What I've got to see
(and this is something I've never bothered to
look into before) is if I can transfer it all to
this old computer, and make it available to
other people.

I spent two hours with TurboTax. And we have a lot of 1099 forms to wade
through. TurboTax is WONDERFUL!

They're idiots. I want to see the rich get taxed heavily, and the rest of us
get a break.

Not that I disagree, but I understand that total also includes all
record keeping that goes on during the year.

Oh, I'm sure they padded it a lot more than that.
It reminds of that lunatic right wing "Statistic" that
said that richest Americans paid 90% of the taxes.
Then you found out that they were only speaking
of income taxes.
Then you found out that "the richest" included
everyone making something in the low to mid
30s.
Then you discovered that was HOUSEHOLD
income, which means that by "The Richest" they
were including people who earned less than $9
an hour.
Then you realize that there was more morality
in an ounce of dried cat feces than all of the
Republican party.

Oh, I'm sure they padded it a lot more than that.

It's probably a case of inappropriately using the mean where the median
would be a better measure. The mean is almost certainly skewed by the
complex tax-accounting process used by very wealthy taxpayers who have
many different sources of investment income, each with its own
complicated rules for deductions. For people like that, what even
constitutes "income" is more a matter of law than of fact (that's why the
tax code is so lengthy; it's full of different provisions for the
treatment of "paper income" each of which applies to only a small, but
different in each case, group of taxpayers). We're talking about people
who literally need an accountant to know how much they've made; it's not
just a simple matter of totalling up payments they've received. And of
course they'd *still* need to go through *most* of that accounting
process even if there were *no* taxes.

I was talking to my husband about Conservatives and that they seem to
get pleasure in hating people. That liberals get pissed about the
lies and then get more angry that they have to get pissed about it in
the first place. We find all this crap annoying as hell. The
conservatives (or to be more specific the neo-conservative morons)
seem to be enjoying the heck out of their anger fests - so much that
they lie continually to keep it going. I think it's like the trolls
here. They've figured out how to get our attention and that's really
the whole point. This is all just to make themselves feel more
important.

Of course you are wrong. The republicans are of course the one who
really care about the survival as a free people. It's the hate filled
leftist liberals that make the task so difficult. Count your lucky

Denial of what? Exactly?

Since when has there been something to deny?

Why are you asking me, boy, your the atheist you figure it out. There
is obviously something you as an "atheist" are in denial of or you
wouldn't have to take an advertised ("I'm an atheist. My assigned
numeral is 162") position against "it." Does that make it any easier

You are making the assertion of our/my denial. Specify exactly what it is that
I/we am/are denying.

There

No, in fact I find it quite confusing.
What is it, that you have no evidence for, and are afraid to openly claim
because you will get your arse kicked if you do, so you are trying to make vague
inferences in the hope that I will mention it first, and relieve you of the
problem of supporting an unsupportable assertion?

I think you will find that you have mis-understood the full implication of
"average", when applied to intelligence.
Consider.
You are a member of a minority group. You are an atheist.
Surveys have shown that your are probably of "above average" intelligence.
How much, "above average", is not a good subject for discussion, among friends.
(:-)
You make up, app, 15% of the total population.
That leaves 85% of the population as theists.
Now, many of the fundies that we get here, tell us that they are the norm, for
Americans.
Having talked to/at, some of them, I find it difficult to believe that they
could fill out a tax form, so quickly.
We can only conclude that the average time is so low, because the times recorded
for the other 15%, YOUR 15%, has made the rest of the population, look a lot
smarter than they really are.
Now do you see?
Using "average", makes 85% of the population, look a damn sight smarter than
they really are. (:-D
