appropriate way to honor Reagan than to shut down a school and not allow
students to learn anything for a day. It's not that I mind getting the
day off, of course, since I plan to use it to protest the policies of
the Reagan administration. I guess from a positive perspective I get to
commemorate Reagan by forgetting to come to work for a day :). But as an
aside, financial aid disbursement is still going on and a lot of
students were going to be really fucking pissed if they didn't get their
beer money, erm I mean student grants and loans. So apparently the
regents have now decided that everything on campus will close *except*
the financial aid office.

I read this morning that Orange County will keep it's offices open.
According to one official the reason was that "Reagan would have wanted it
that way." More likely its due to local government offices being
understaffed thanks to Dubya's and Arnie's cuts.

These elaborate, costly 'state funerals' seem more appropriate for
kings or third world dictators but I don't think we need them in a
democracy.
