Hymn Of A Grateful Heart.
Of David.
I thank you, Lord, with all my heart;
before the gods to you I sing.
I bow low toward your holy temple;
I praise your name for your
fidelity and love.
For you have exalted over all
your name and your promise.
When I cried out, you answered;
you strengthened my spirit.
Though I walk in the midst of dangers,
you guard my life when my enemies rage.
You stretch out your hand;
your right hand saves me.
The Lord is with me to the end.
Lord, your love endures forever.
Never forsake the work of your hands!

Isn't this the same 'God' who visited a 'famine' upon the people of Israel
for not executing the sons of Saul? Didn't that famine affect innocent
children and pregnant women? Is that the kind of 'love' your 'God' lavishes
on his 'children'?

What 'promise' was that again?
When I cried out, you answered;
you strengthened my spirit.
Though I walk in the midst of dangers,
you guard my life when my enemies rage.
You can imagine just how much our warriors in Afghanistan and Iraq wish that
was even *remotely* true! (I know, I know. The text applies to 'David'. But
'God' failed to 'guard' a whole slew of David's soldiers. Now why do *you*
suppose *that* was?
You stretch out your hand;
your right hand saves me.
The Lord is with me to the end.
Lord, your love endures forever.
Sure has a funny way of showing it, doesn't he?
Want to know what the world would be like without your 'God's' enduring
'love'? You're looking at it?

Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong
holds to ruin.
All that pass by the way spoil him: he is a reproach to his
neighbours.
Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made
all his enemies to rejoice.
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him
to stand in the battle.
Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the
ground.
The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him
with shame. Selah.
