Psalm 30: 2, 4-6, 11-13. 4-22-2007. |
Thanksgiving For Deliverance.
I praise you, Lord, for you raised me up
and did not let my enemies rejoice over me.
Lord, you brought me up from Sheol;
you kept me from going down to the pit.
Sing praise to the Lord, you faithful;
give thanks to God's holy name.
For divine anger lasts but a moment;
divine favor lasts a lifetime.
At dusk weeping comes for the night;
but at dawn there is rejoicing.
Hear, O Lord, have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper.
You changed my mourning into dancing;
you took off my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness.
With my whole being I sing
endless praise to you.
O Lord, my God,
forever will I give you thanks.

Another excellent exercise in cherry picking.
Thanksgiving For Deliverance.
Prayer in Time of Illness
How long, O Lord ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

Good ol' Dave certainly had reason to be thankful, considering
what a flagrant sinner he was. It is surprising that YHWH actually
bothered to put up with him.
On second thought, it is not that surprising. David was as much of
a hypocrite as YHWH.
Birds of a feather .....

Josef
To know that the Bible is the literature of a barbarous people, to
know that it is uninspired, to be certain that the supernatural
does not and cannot exist - all this is but the beginning of
wisdom.
