Object: Question for Duke (and other religious people)
Here is an excerpt from the Catholic Encyclopedia.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02258b.htm
"Holy Baptism holds the first place among the sacraments, because it is
the door of the spiritual life; for by it we are made members of Christ
and incorporated with the Church. And since through the first man death
entered into all, unless we be born again of water and the Holy Ghost,
we can not enter into the kingdom of Heaven, as Truth Himself has told us."
Baptism, according to Catholic doctrine, cleanses the soul of original
sin, allowing one to become one with God.
Now, according to Christian doctrine, Jesus was sinless.
http://foundationbiblestudy.tripod.com/jesus_was_sinless.htm
"Jesus Christ was the perfect sin offering, for the sins of all
humanity, because he was without the spot and blemish of original sin
and personal sin. Although he was God
manifested in flesh, he was also fully man, and therefore, because of
his humanity, was able to sin. Resisting every temptation from Satan and
the weakness of his flesh, he is the only person who has never sinned."
If Jesus was completely without original sin, or personal sin, why was
he baptized?

I know the RCC answer and it is perfectly valid within the framework of that
church.
The guppy chrunchers have got some pretty good answers for things like this,
especially since one of those answers makes Earl an automatically
excommunicated person.
But I'm not religious so I'll wait to be invited.

Oops, accidentally blew away vs's original post.
Jesus was without sin, original or actual, and hence had no need for the baptism
of John, which was a baptism of repentance and not a Christian baptism. Hint,
Jesus had not been crucified yet. His actions clearly introduced mankind to
Christian baptism when the Holy Spirit descended and the Father announced "This
is my Son of whom I am truly pleased".

I don't know what earl did, but I know that my answers are rock solid.
Later, mikey boy.
