If you remember, last year, the Republicans in Congress pulled all sorts
of illegal shenanigans to hurry thru and shove that Medicare bill thru
the House, in the middle of the night.
We knew it, we said it back then, us Democrats knew that the Bushies
were lying, we knew that it will end up costing a lot more than the
Republicans said it will cost. As it turns out, we were right, as
always, and the Republicans were wrong, as always.
An internal investigation revealed that the Medicare bill will indeed
end up costing a lot more than Congress was originally led to believe it
will cost. If Congress knew the truth back then, even or especially the
Republicans who supported it, they would not have voted for it.
The Medicare bill which Bush pushed thru amounts to nothing but a
several hundred billion dollar give-away to the insurance & drug
companies, paid for with our tax dollars, and it does nothing to help
bring down the price of drugs for the sick, the handicapped or the
elderly.
Back then, the Medicare administrator, Thomas Scully, threatened to fire
Richard Foster if he told Congress the truth about how much the Medicare
bill will really cost.
What Thomas Scully had done was violate a federal law that protects the
right of federal employees to communicate with Congress, a law which has
been on the books since 1912.
This is why it's immoral to vote for Republicans, any Republican. This
is what happens. Because the Republicans now control ALL branches of
government, nothing can stop them, so nothing will be done about the
breaking of all these laws Birds of a feather, Crooks stick together.
Thomas Scully, by the way, has since quit his government job and is now
making a hundred times more money working as a lobbyist for Abbott
Laboratories, Caremark Rx, the Chiropractic Association, College of
Gastroenterology, and a whole bunch of other companies who will benefit
in the hundreds of billions of dollars because of the Medicare law which
he helped write.

There's no way to deny what the Bush administration has done here, even
they admit it, they lied about the real cost. But what they've also
done here is to launch an investigation and then investigate themselves
and then issue this decision that they did not really break any law.
Like I said, with the way things are going, it really is immoral to vote
for any of these guys.
