And again:

A Republican True Believer so filled with hatred for
the truth, he claims Kerry wasn't under fire at the
time described in Kerry's Bronze Star citation,
despite that the man's _very_ _own_ Bronze Star
citation for the _very_ _same_ _event_ vividly
depicts all five "Swift" riverboats as under heavy
small arms fire.

You have to be pretty desperate to deny the well
documented events of your own heroism to hurt the
political candidacy of an opposing party member.

In fact, you have to be so desperate, people call
you ... a Republican.

xanthian, raised by Republicans. I recovered.
People do.

"GOP"? "Grand Old Party?"
"Gratuitous Obsessive Prevaricators" is more like it.

You're a little behind the times, aren't you? One of the
Swift Boat Liars has been caught in his lies by the
citation for his own Bronze Star received for the same
time as Kerry's and in which the shots from guns and
automatic weapons is mentioned. I posted the article in
alt.atheism a few hours ago. The dufus said that he
misplaced his copy of the citation over 20 years ago. I
guess it wasn't very important to him.
Do try to keep up.

Yep. And isn't it also interesting that the guy who claimed to
have treated Kerry doesn't actually have a signature on Kerry's
medical records? Funny that.
Of course, Bush doesn't have any records. They were all destroyed
in a fire and a flood, isn't that the story? Maybe there were giant,
paperwork-eating lizards from Planet 10 in there, too. It's so
hard to remember.
Also interesting that the group who put out those ads had a phone
campaign telling everyone that John McCain had a "black baby"
because he had adopted a child from Bangladesh.
Not that there's any point to this because, while I have met a
few people who supported Bush for rational reasons and can
respect their opinion if not agree with it, the micropublicans
who make such a big deal out of Kerry's war record are just
completely fuckin' out to lunch. Either a military record means
something, in which case one silver star easily trumps a few
years of goofing off and snorting blow, or else it doesn't,
in which case, hey, what's the big deal?

Didn't they just release the military records of one of the guys who said
that Kerry did not (how is it put?) "receive fire" only to find that the
guy's *own *account was that fire was being received at the time?

that any of the SBV accounts contained that information.

I believe one SBV guy's medal from the same incident was based partly on
a claim of being under fire, and another one has now admitted that he
didn't really have any first-hand knowledge, but was relying on hearsay
for his "recollection." I read that a third said he was pressured into
signing his affidavit and regrets doing so, and that the paperwork from
that day contradicts the doctor who claims he treated Kerry.
I think it's all a house of cards, and that McCain (who apparently was
the target of a similar smear by some of the same folks) is right.
It's unfortunate that it will take some time to expose all the lies,
and some people will end up believing them, anyway, but that's what the
liars are relying on -- dirty tricks sometimes work.

True enough. There are still people who believe that picture of Kerry with Jane
Fonda is real. People who must be sorely in need of glasses, obviously.

The following statement from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth concerns
an
article appearing in morning edition of the BOSTON GLOBE, written by
GLOBE reporter and author of the official Kerry-Edwards campaign
book,
Mike Kranish.
"Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in today's
edition
of the BOSTON GLOBE by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and
highly
misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the
current
advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain
Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and
he
reaffirms his request that the ad be played.
"Additional documentation will follow.
"The article by Mr. Kranish is particularly surprising given page 102
of
Mr. Kranish's own book quoting John Kerry as acknowledging that he
killed
a single, wounded, fleeing Viet Cong soldier whom he was afraid would
turn around.
"Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 supporters who are
revealing first hand, eyewitness accounts of numerous incidents
concerning John Kerry's military service record. The organization
will
continue to discuss much of what John Kerry has reported as fact
concerning his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam."
