And the after-effects are legendary. At least that's what my husband has
told me ;)

My parents practically lived on them (so they tell me) when they were
living in Columbus while Dad was finishing his doctorate at State...but
I
didn't get even a frozen one until the early 1980s, and it wasn't until
1991 that I got a real one (hot off the steam table, dripping grease) -
and
it's never dumped any aftereffects on me or Dale. Of course, we don't
get
them too often, with the nearest location to us being 800-odd miles away
in
Nashville...

I actually had my first one about a year ago prior to going veggie. I
thought it was flat nasty :P

The funny thing in my case is, I've never cared for onions on burgers, but
Sliders are no problem.

My husband has told of late-night runs to White Castle after a night of
beer
drinking. People are lucky not to have died from the resulting fumes ;)

Fortunately, the only time we'll get them are when we're on the road,
which
means no beer. (I usually get maybe one a year...and it's usually a
Shiner,
from the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner.)
