It's a thoughtful work, Mekkala. You're a good writer. Now, you and
I are not out to convert each other. Even if I did persuade you to
believe there's a "higher being" out there (it's safe to say it isn't
going to happen any time soon), that's not the real battle here. From
my point of view, Satan believes in God, and that's not helping his
situation either. It's the salvation thru Christ message that I'm
going to push. But only to those who are ready to hear it. Since I
believe the Bible is true, I believe Matthew 18:3, which includes
"Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not
enter into the kingdom of heaven." I take this to mean that when you
have absolute trust in someone, you discard all of your
presuppositions. It's similar to the way a child trusts his parents.
They need to know that even if the child doesn't understand, he will
stop when they yell out because he doesn't see the car coming.
Finally, I take great care to not shove this down peoples throat. I
avoid street preachers and most TV Evangelists. The Christian
Coalition and the like don't do much for the image of Christians.
Live and let live, but if someone is honestly searching and comes to
me, I'll tell them the Good News. I'll give this a rest now. I
haven't given any evidence of God's existance... but have tried to
explained why I believe it.
Take care... John

You believe in a god who is prepared to consign a large proportion of
the world's population to eternal torment simply because they see no
reason to believe a god exists, or because they've been taught to
believe in the wrong one? That's a pretty shitty attitude for a
supposedly benevolent god, isn't it? :-) You'd think he would behave
a bit better than a spoilt child...

On Fri 02 Apr 2004 05:49:33p, (JohnV) kicked back
with a beer, ruminated at length, fell asleep, woke up, lit up a joint,
then fell asleep again after thoughtfully blurting out:

I definitely respect your position, John. You seem pretty honest and
respectful about it. On the other hand, I'll never reconvert to
Christianity (I was a Christian for most of my life), and that's my
opinion on the matter. I think, though, that you and I can safely agree
to disagree on this ;)
