long. I don't know how the Church could condone and cover it up

With handwaving and empty platitudes, of course and the sheep
follow the examples set.
While I'm fully aware that pedophilia has nothing to do with sex
mentally it's about control and power, but one has to wonder what
the outcome of men living without sex can become.
Perversion, but since their whole superstition is that what
difference does it make?
While it doesn't excuse their sexual assaults, the Church should
have known from the beginning that denying men normal sex had to
have bad consequences.
They did, but figured correctly it would solve the problem of
nepotism at hand. As for paedophelia what's a little of that when;
1) this life is unimportant
2) the prime thing is the parents heavenly status
3) "God Swill"
4) greater good
5) other empty platitudes
I'm listening to a book on history during the middle ages,
history being what it is one sometimes needs to back track from
the place you really want to hear about so you'll understand
what caused things to flow the way they did. In this case the
author starts with the fall of Byzantium, in that section he
describes how Buddha became a Catholic saint. Yeah, I think
it's weird, too :)

Apparently the Catholic church split over a disagreement about
whether icons (pictures and statues) were profane, creating the
western and eastern forms of orthodoxy. At this time the
Byzantines were busy trying to convert the far east (Asia) to
xianity and there were these buddists that had made laws keeping
children and other naive people from being exposed to these
missionaries. Somehow this guy (lost his name somewhere back in
my memory banks) got some other buddist kids to listen to the
missionaries and they converted because of his work in getting
the missionaries to them. Somehow the Church saw this as the
workings of buddah and canonized him :)
