kind. Does that mean that their ideas were wrong? Or that we should
limit them to the exact spirit that they had?
The truth is that, so long as one of us is not free, not one of is
free. We must fight for our rights to disagree with the government,
whether our opinions are popular or not. We must fight to see that
everyone is treated equally under the law, whether we like them or
not. We must not be willing to give up the freedoms guaranteed us by
the Constitution -- speech, assembly, religion, to bear arms -- and we
must embrace our responsibility to criticize laws that are unfair and
to vote our conscience. And we must learn that we don't have to like
everyone, but we have to give them the very same considerations and
rights that we have.
