I was never arguing with you. The sage kept saying that there was a gap in
the OT, as they did not put Pharez in!!
The errors in the genealogy are in Matthew, not the OT.
Wrong again. What I keep saying is that the OT does not have a gap for Perez but
the NT does. The errors in the geneology are in both because Jesus was under the
rule that a rightful heir could not be a descendent of incest.
And the reason it would matter even if it there was incest there, is?
The lineage from Abraham to Joseph haven't aught to do with Jesus
Christ since he, reputedly, WAS NOT, Josephs son. The question that
should be looked into is, why did God inspire Matthew to list a 'false
lineage' for Jesus? That is a rather large screw-up on God's part,
don't you think?

Because it means there was no legal relationship between the two therefore Perez
had no legal rights to any of his father's inheritance. And if Perez had no
legal rights of inheritance to the bloodline of Judah, then neither did Jesus.

Yes, but, would there be a difference in being a 'rightful heir' and in
being 'of the line', in a factual way.

I do not know aught of the legalities of inheritance under Hebrew law
so I can't debate it. Personally, I think that it ought to be
considered a sin for a man to lie with his son's wife, if it be
considered a sin for a man to lie with his fathers wife. In the event
of the death of either the father or the son, I do not know if it would
still be a sin for the survivor to lie with the deceased's widow.
To me, the most outstanding error with the listed bloodline is that it
was the late J.C.'s step-dad's bloodline and therefore had naught to do
with the lineage of the late J.C. himself, who IS the central character
under discussion, and, in particular, the matter of the prophecies not
being shown to have fulfilled in a 'legitimate' way.

The Bible says that Jesus would be a direct descendant of Abraham and having
adulterous sex with a prostitute is not considered a way to become a direct
descendent.

Well, I wouldn't argue for inheritance, but I would argue for the "direct
descendant" clause. That is an easy to prove or disprove claim, is it not?

Yes, you are correct. I shouldn't aruge with these nimwits over trivial matters
like Perez, but I guess I was trying to be thorough by outline *ALL* the errors
in the geneology. You would think with so many overwhelming blatent errors,
believers would concede the geneology is invalid, but it is a serious mistake to
underestimate the power of stupidity that faith can create.
