What is the problem with teaching a child to be critical? What is
there
to fear?

Reality, of course.

So, you fear reality? Get a grip.

How 'unexpected' that you'd lie your ***** off. Typical.

You obviously have a problem with teaching a child to think
critically. But, you would now know truth if it knocked
you on your *****.

You really should do something about your terminal projective
cowardice
and penchant for lying. It doesn't become you.

Thinking critically would mean a child should take into account &
question whatever is taught, not just swallow the dogma hook, line
& sinker without question.

Which is why superstitions like the Christian one are so terrified of
education and thinking. There's a danger of such cutting into their
prophet$$$$$$.

Perhaps, you never noticed, but I do not avocation teaching
Christanity, nor do I appeal to religion for *evidence* in support
of my conclusions.

Interesting. I agree that you don't appeal to religion for evidence,
but neither do you make your proposed explanation all that clear.

I do know I have some difficulty in getting my ideas across to you.
Bottom line, I do not discount that evolution may have occurred. But
I believe certain facts have been ignored by _most_ scientist. & this
puts a different comportment over the entire school of Darwinism.

Do you, to yourself if not to us, appeal to religion for the
explanation/solution?

Matt, you have known me for many years via the internet. So,
I would think U would know I reject the Genesis story N the
Torah. (I haven't gotten away from my Jewish roots,
eventhough I have never really been active in religion).
I disbelieve the 6 day creation. I accept the 13 - 15 billion year
age for the Universe, I accept that the earth and solar system
came about 4.5 billion years ago, all of which was fashioned
by gravity acting upon massive gas & dust clouds spewed out
from older generation dying stars. I reject the Noachian flood
stories, the Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden Story. I have
held this opinion since my late teens.
I wasn't at all preoccupied with the question of origins in my
youth, 20s or even 30s. I knew about evolution & I was
reasonably well read on the subject including the evidence
presented N support. I did not disbelieve it. But I spent a
big part of my time in Europe (where this Evolution-
Creation controversy was not "front page" news) and in
the U.S. where you can't get away from it. Initially, I
was annoyed by the controversy and took no part in it.
Then I read the Panda's Thumb by S.J. Gould, This
came something of a shock. But it sparked my interest.
I knew Gould & Eldredge had prepared a paper which
they called an Alternative to ????? which I obtained and
studied at length. Since I have read a number of books
by Gould & Niles Eldredge along with Mayr, Simpson,
Stanley etc. I began to think the hard, empirical facts
did not support Darwinism. So that is my position in
a netshell. But frankly religion had _nothing_ to do
with it and never affected or influenced my life and
thoughts.
I don't advocate teaching I.D. in public schools, but
I think evidence which does not appear to support
Darwinism should be taught. IOW present the fossil
record as it really is not the stylized or idealized
rendition. Expain the fossil record as it actually
is. Let it speak for itself, that is take it at face value.
This would encourage critical thinking.
