Re: Are angels, archangels, devil in the Bible ? |

Hi,
Could somebody help me.
Reading the Bible, I can't find the story of the creation of the angels,
archangels and the story of the devil (satan, lucifer, Belzebuth ?). May
be I have forgotten to read some parts of this book.
Are these stories in the Bible ?
If it is not the case, where do these stories come from ?

The Jews had none of these in their belief system until they learned
about them from the Babylonians and Persians after their Exile to
Babylon in 586 B. C. Even as late as Paul some Jews accepted these
things and some didn't. "For the Sadducees say that there is no
resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess
both," Acts 23:8.

That is not true. Angels are mentioned in the Torah as are fallen
angels. However, many christian myths about angels are not supported
by the Bible. There was no "devil" in the Garden of Eden, since he
did not fall into evil until chapter six of Genesis. His name was not
"Lucifer." The name "Lucifer" does not even appear in the actual
Bible; it is put in the KJV translation in a passage refering to the
King of Babylon.
I notice that Atheists frequently try to rewrite history and claim
that elements of judaism that were mimicked out of context by
Babylonians, particularly within Zoroastrism. This despite the fact
that Zoroaster lived during the Jewish exile in Babylon/Persia and
invented his religion 900years after the Torah was written.

The Saducees did believe a theology that is not supported by the
Bible. Of course the Saducees were a minority among the Jews.
