You are perfectly right at this point. There do exist more than nine
virtues, but what we are talking about is always nine virtues because
of the meaning of the nine.
Nine is about the most important figure / digit to us heathens as it
seems to have some deeper meaning (although I have not yet found out
what that meaning might be). It is not only my examples mentionned
before; there are many other sources in the Eddas where nine is
important.
