Re: Atheism Why? |
In article <RfLwg.2174$fL3.1956@trnddc07>, says...
WE LIVE on a crisis-filled planet; a momentary glance at newspaper
headlines confirms that fact each day. The desperate state of our world
has caused many to question the existence of God. Some, claiming to be
atheist, even deny his existence. Is that true of you?
For over 43 years, yes. I figured it out when I was a little kid.
Belief or disbelief in God can profoundly affect your outlook on the
future.
Yes, all for the better. Maybe people will think about the future a
little bit instead of the "god will.." nonsense.
Without God, the survival of the human race is entirely in man=3Fs
hands=3Fa bleak thought, considering man=3Fs destructive potential.
If god is fictional, then nothing's changed, has it?
If you
do believe that God exists, then you likely accept that life on this
planet does have a purpose=3Fa purpose that may yet be realized.
And what might that be? Life's "purpose" is to reproduce. LOL.
Although denials of God=3Fs existence have been sporadic throughout
history, it is only in recent centuries that the popularity of atheism
has spread. Do you know why?
Because many more people are educated enough to see that the claims for
god as as empty as an old beer can alongside the road in the middle of
death valley..

I spent quite a bit of time in it when I lived in Las Vegas. Needles CA
was my favorite place to spend a day watching trains, but not in the
summer, spring, or fall. Winter in the daytime was ok, but as soon as
the sun went down..yikes!
And you didn't go to Scotty's Castle??
Shame shame on you..

I heard it's kind of a let-down, and I was a little short on time. But
that (and the fact that my brother's pissed at me for not waiting until
he could go too) gives me a reason to go back.

106? It's beating that in the Central Valley this weekend.
(The only downside to living near the beach is the fact that we don't own
an air conditioner. Normally that's not a bad thing, but during a heat
wave, it can be a bit of an inconvenience.)

I guess they keep updating the site. Makes sense. The forecast was for
122 with thunderstorms. Fucking hell.

The desert has a beauty all its own. It's really wild during the month
when all you can see is a riot of colour from the flowers.

February, March or April. It's been too many years to recall the one
month the desert blooms. Once was travelling from Barstow Calif. to
Vegas and the whole way was in bloom. Gorgeous. If I would have
realized that I would have had my instamatic camera with me.
