Dr Sir New York,
March 22, 1797
It is now ascertained that Mr Pinckney has been refused and with
circumstances of indignity. `What is to be done? The share I have had
in the public administration added to my interest as a Citizen make me
extremely anxious that at this delicate Crisis a course of conduct
exactly proper may be adopted. I offer to your consideration without
ceremony what appears to me such a course.
First. I would appoint a day of humiliation and prayer. In such a
crisis this appears to me proper in itself and it will be politically
useful to impress our nation that there is a serious state of
things--to strengthen religious ideas in a contest which in its
progress may require that our people may consider themselves as the
defenders of their Country against Atheism conquest & anarchy. It is
far from evident to me that the progress of the war may not call on us
to defend our fire sides & our altars. And any plan which does not
look forward to this as possible will in my opinion be a superficial one.

In addition to these measures Let the president recommend a day to be
observed as a day of fasting humiliation & prayer. On religious ground
this is very proper--On political, it is very expedient. The
Government will be very unwise, if it does not make the most of the

Take notice! Something very like this happened on the 4th of March,
1797. The American constitution has no relation to the Christian
religion: Yet Mr. Adams, before taking his oath of office, made a long
exordium to this purpose: viz, that, although the constitution makes
no distinction in favour of the Christian religion, yet that he (Mr.
Adams) in nominating to public offices would always have a special eye
to that point. This truth was thereafter sent to the press.
In July or August last, when the author of the history of 1796 or in
plain terms. when Hamilton came to Philadelphia to vindicate his
character by a confession of adultery. this identical and most
Christian president invited him to a family dinner with Mrs. Adams.

MARCH 23, 1798
PROCLAMATIONS.
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
A PROCLAMATION.
As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially
depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the
national acknowledgment of this truth is not only an indispensable
duty which the people owe to Him, but a duty whose natural influence
is favorable to the promotion of that morality and piety without which
social happiness can not exist nor the blessings of a free government
be enjoyed; and as this duty, at all times incumbent, is so especially
in seasons of difficulty or of danger, when existing or threatening
calamities, the just judgments of God
against prevalent iniquity, are a loud call to repentance and
reformation; and as the United States of America are at present Placed
in a hazardous and afflictive situation by the unfriendly disposition,
conduct, and demands of a foreign power, evinced by repeated refusals
to receive our messengers of reconciliation and peace, by depredations
on our commerce, and the infliction of injuries on very many of our
fellow-citizens while engaged in their lawful business on the seas--
under these considerations it has appeared to me that the duty of
imploring the mercy and benediction of Heaven on our country demands
at this time a special attention from its inhabitants.
I have therefore thought fit to recommend, and I do hereby
recommend, that Wednesday, the 9th day of May next, be observed
throughout the United States as a day of solemn humiliation, fasting,
and prayer; that the citizens of these States, abstaining on that day
from their customary worldly occupations, offer their devout addresses
to the Father of Mercies agreeably to those forms or methods which
they have severally adopted as the most suitable and becoming; that
all religious congregations do, with the deepest humility, acknowledge
before God the manifold sins and transgressions with which we are
justly chargeable as individuals and as a nation, beseeching Him at
the same time, of His infinite grace, through the Redeemer of the
World, freely to remit all our offenses, and to incline us by His Holy
Spirit to that sincere repentance and reformation which may afford us
reason to hope for his inestimable favor and heavenly benediction;
that it be made the subject of particular and earnest supplication
that our country may be protected from all the dangers which threaten
it; that our civil and religious privileges may be preserved
inviolate and perpetuated to the latest generations; that our public
councils and magistrates may be especially enlightened and directed at
this critical period; that the American people may be united in those
bonds of amity and mutual confidence and inspired with that vigor and
fortitude by which they have in times past been so highly
distinguished and by which they have obtained such invaluable
advantages; that the health of the inhabitants of our land may be
preserved, and their agriculture, commerce, fisheries, arts, and
manufactures be blessed and prospered; that the principles of genuine
piety and sound morality may influence the mitlds and govern the lives
of every description of our citizens, and that the blessings of peace,
freedom, and pure religion may be speedily extended to all the nations
of the earth.
And finally, I recommend that on the said day the duties of
humiliation and prayer be accompanied by fervent thanksgiving to the
Bestower of Every Good Gift, not only for His having hitherto
protected and preserved the people of these United States in the
independent enjoyment of their religious and civil freedom, but also
for having prospered them in a wonderful progress of population, and
for conferring on them many and great favors conducive to the
happiness and prosperity of a nation.
Given under my hand and the seal of the United States of America, at
Philadelphia, this 23d day of March, A. D. 1798, and of the
Independence of the said States the twenty-second.
[SEAL] JOHN ADAMS.

For fear lest Omniscience should want intelligence, respecting
federal purity, and Jacobin quilt, our president has issued a
proclamation for a fast and thanksgiving both in one day; he says we
are "placed in a hazardous and afflictive situation by the unfriendly
disposition &c. Of a foreign power. In short, Mr. Adams wants to have
a first hearing; and to make every pulpit resound with declarations
against France.
He chuses to take for granted what we feel strongly disposed to deny,
viz. that Mr. Adams is exactly in the right, and the French Directory
are entirely in the wrong. He complains of the non- reception of his
envoys. The reception of three successive French envoys by our
executive was most forbidding imaginable. While John Fenno continues
to publish his daily libels against France, nobody, in consistency
with common sense can believe that his patron, Mr. Adams, is desirous
if soliciting the good will of the Republic.

PRESIDENT'S PROCLAMATION
__________
FOR THE AURORA
__________
Mr. Bache,
I have been much edified by reading the Proclamation of the
President, appointing the 9th of May as a day of general fast
throughout the United States. I do, as a good Christian, applaud
religious acts at all times and in all places, in order, if
prosperous, to return thanks to the Almighty for the benefits
received, or if labouring under misfortunes, to implore his mercy; but
as we are no longer in the days of Miracles and that the father of
mercies appears sufficiently to indicate to us his will, through the
regular and common course which he has established both in the
physical and moral world, if we examine that admirable chain of causes
and effects which we generally see ordained by him, inas much as is
applicable to the object of the proclamation, we shall easily discern
that crisis in which this country finds itself and the dangers that
threathen it, have principally arisen from our administration and that
of course it is it that ought to fast, reform, and repent, and that to
the president and Ministers alone can be applied these terrible words
of the proclamation, that the just judgments of God against prevalent
iniquity are a loud call to repentance and reformation. The good
American people are only guilty of one fault, which although light and
trifling, if the intention is weighed, has been dreadful in its
consequences, it is that of having elected Mr. Adams their President.
At last our fellow citizens have severly atoned for that crime; but
what punishment has yet been inflicted for the scandalous mistakes of
our rulers? Or rather what misfortune has befallen the author
thereof? In the calamitous times which affect us, when Mr. Adams
himself recommends a voluntary fast after a forced starvation arising
from errors of his government, have we not seen him draw from the
public revenue nearly sixty thousand dollars in one year for the
benefit if himself and family? And have not the ministers received
their pay regularly, or have they not shared the loaves and fishes
with their relations and friends? Is it not insulting Divine Justice
to suppose that merely because Mr. Adams chooses to eat on the 19th
May, fish instead of roastbeefand pudding in lieu of ham, the fate of
the state will be altered though they should continue the old system?
Yes Sir, I must acknowledged Mr. Adams proclamation is a precious and
valuable piece inasmuch as it indicates three powerful remedies which
are to save us from the immediate danger into which he has thrown us,
repentance, reformation, and fasting are the fountains from which we
are to sip our cure,-- Well then, let Mr. Adams repent the errors he
has committed either through ignorance, weakness or vanity; let him
completely reform his Minisiters and their measures, let him above all
discharge Timothy Pickering, whose petulance and violent partiality
towards England has already caused such infinite mischief; and as to
what regards fasting, I think the best manner to observe it would be
for him and the principle officers of government to give up, at least
half of their salaries to the state for the support of those families
who have been reduced to poverty and misery by their rash manoevres.
This is the true ashed and sackcloth with which the authors of our
misfortune ought to cover themselves, and this is the most effectual
method of being down upon this devoted country the blessings of
providence.
In another part of his proclamation, there is a precious confession
of Mr. Adams, which appear to indicate repentance. The President says:
That all religious congregations do, with the deepest humility,
acknowledge before God the manifold sins and transgressions with which
we are justly CHARGEABLE as individuals and as a NATION; if the nation
is guilty as a Nation it can only be through the instruments and
channels of its actions as a Nation, these are evidently the members
of government, and consequently it is acknowledging that the
administration has to repent of manifold sins and transgressions. Now,
Mr. Bache, how can we reconcile this penitential confession of Mr.
Adams with that passage of his speech in May last and with is late
message to Congress in which he declares and repeats that our
administration had acted perfectly well in things!
Many other observations occur to me which I might add but it
appears to me I have said enough to convince you how truly I am.
A good Christian and an
enemy to hypocrisy
P.S. I hope that every printer who may have published the
presidents' proclamamtion, will be good enough to insert the above
observations.

Title: Helping Atheists 29 May 2005 06:12:05 PM
"Atheists are not human, neither are they Christian. This county has no
room for weirdos."
Pastor David Taylor
Unless you're Catholic or have been living in a cave for the last 20
years, you already know that Broomleigh Baptist's Pastors David Taylor
and ***** Foot are the world's foremost Christian experts on the disease,
Atheism, and its carriers called, Atheists.
Both Pastors have risked infection and death to speak at countless
Atheist conventions. Pastor Foot recently remarked as a guest on "The No
Spin Zone:" "As long as there's twenty-four hour room service and they
pick up my first class airfare, I'll give my 18.4 minute inspirational
presentation to Lucifer himself. Besides, a relaxing walk through the
parking lot outside an Atheist convention can harvest hundreds of car tag
numbers for British National Police computers. And with Mr. Ashcroft
paying a pound a tip, that can add up to a complimentary tour of the
hotel gift shop, my friend."
When not bringing financially sound believers to the bosom of Christ,
Taylor and Foot dedicate their lives to ferreting out and publicly
exposing hell bound, godless liberal trash. And outside of the demon-
possessed folks at the mental hospital who fling their own excrement up
your nose, Atheists are the worst kind of unsaved trash a decent
Christian will ever have the displeasure of rebuking. Thankfully, there
are not that many of them.
"I have to tell you," said Pastor ***** Foot, "that from what I've seen in
the last few years, there are roughly 300 active Atheists living in the
United Kingdom. I know that sounds like a lot of godless nuts, but I'm
not exaggerating just to get your attention. Atheism is becoming a very
serious epidemic because our projections show that within a mere eight
years, our country will no longer have prison space to hold all of them.
That's not even taking into account the many folks who don't have the
guts to admit at the family dinner table that they are Atheists, but spit
in Christ's face in secret by failing to get down on their knees and
repeat all the compliments He demands to hear. Most of the uncounted
Atheists are in the closet and are too sissified to handle death threats
from their Christian neighbours. "They say they don't believe in stuff
they can't see, but they are the very same people who tell you that Ben
Affleck and that harlot, Jennifer Lopez, have talent."
Pastor Taylor added, "Most of these closet Atheists are so ignorant, it
isn't worth even worrying about them. Before they know it, their so-
called Constitutional right to run around thinking for themselves will
soon be taken away from them. My guess is that once George W. Bush comes
through on his daddy's edict, that most of these selfish little renegade
Atheist bastards will pick Jesus over Jail in a heartbeat."
"We are no longer talking about that tiresome 'free speech' thing," Mrs.
Katie Fisher testified before a closed session of a Parliamentary Select
Committee last Wednesday. "The coin of the realm is rather emphatic in
declaring, In God We Trust - all others pay cash. By denying the Lord,
these willful Atheists are rebuffing our nation's sacred currency. I
don't know about all of you, but I can't think of anything more anti-
British than refusing to accept legal tender.
Clearly, we have ourselves an issue of national security. As all of you
have enthusiastically endorsed by default, we are now waging a Christian
war against nations with gods that unfairly compete with our own. How can
an Atheist be counted upon to raise a weapon and kill men, women and
children for Christ? They can't! That's your answer. Every one of them
is just an act of treason waiting to happen. I ask all of you, since our
country has taken to killing non-Christian Arabs during interrogations,
why have our own domestic non-Christians been allowed to get off scot-
free? I can tell by the nodding of your heads that most of you see where
I am going with this and I thank you in advance for your courage and
faith."
As a result of this inspirational, secret meeting, Broomleigh Baptist has
been called upon to draft legislation to address the problem of Atheist
traitors living like cockroaches in our midst. "But you can do your
part, too. If you are reading this, you know of a practicing Atheist in
your community, and would like to report him to your local police
department, we'd like to tell you how simple it is under the current Bush
Administration.
Most Christians acknowledge that Atheists are unpatriotic, that they
believe the September 11th attack on the World Trade Centre happened
because there is no God to play favourites with humanity. The truth is
that our Lord loves United States and keeps a scorecard of folks who rub
us the wrong way or don't give us their natural resources at a reasonable
price. "The hills of Hades are going to be crawling with the Coalition
of the Unwilling, my friends," said Pastor ***** Foot.
In any case, it's important for you to report any anti-Christian
behaviour (whether it comes from Catholics or full-blown Atheists) to the
British National Police department as soon as possible. Since the
President of the United States doesn't even consider Atheists to be
citizens, and acknowledges that they are a threat even to our country, it
should be no problem getting these so called "people" deported to France
(the home of atheism). Please use the list below as a guide to spot an
Atheist in your community.

Five Tips on How to Spot an Atheist
1. Usually Atheists are pale of skin. They spend a lot of times
indoors, because they are afraid to come outside. They believe the
preposterous lie that Christians are trying to kill them, when in fact,
all that we really want to do is force a quick conversion or to kindly
place them in a maximum security prison for their own protection from
devout Christians who may try to kill them. Many Atheists will try to
throw you off by spending time absorbing carcinogens in tanning beds, so
it important to remember in hunting Atheists that many, if not most, have
very dark skin, too. CAUTION: Do not confuse these artificially dark
folks with genuine Negroes. Real Coloureds need to be watched carefully
around anything of value, but do not need to be brought to the Lord, as
they all unblinkingly accepted Jesus as their loving God during Biblical
slavery.
2. Atheists are overweight. The stereotypes of typical Atheists are
the trim, granola cruncher who jogs and plays racquetball or the vain
hedonist, party-goer who worships only her full-length mirror, Recent
studies have shown, however, that Atheists have become aware of these
signifiers of their lack of faith. In order to blend in undetected with
evangelical Christians, most Atheists now tend to be morbidly obese and
will tell you, whether asked or not, that their enormous girth is the
result of an undetectable thyroid condition and not the box of Little
Debbie cakes they are holding.
3. Atheists have too many university diplomas These folks are chock
full of secular knowledge. They toss the Bible aside in favor of so-
called, "research" and "theories." They spend their days studying and
trying to gather facts and data to support their ridiculous scientific
theories, such as evolution and gravity. Don't let it fool you, Christian
Brothers and Sisters. All the secular knowledge in the world can't
disprove that the reason we are all here today was because Eve got some
bad advice from a talking snake! Atheists are too full of their silly
"logic" to understand that only blind faith leads to sighted Truth. Why,
some homo-lovers in Scotland have already accepted that most scientists
are naturally Atheists. Don't let it happen here. Report your Biology
professor – or any so-called teacher who pollutes the soul with
extraneous (non-Biblical) information -- to the local authorities before
he recruits your child.
4. Atheists Deceive. Atheists go under many different names, but they
don't have the common sense to align themselves yet! Use this to your
advantage in reporting them to the police! They call themselves,
"humanists, agnostics, secular-humanists, moral relativists, Catholics,
free-thinkers, undecided, Unitarians, and more recently, Brights." It is
important to note that anyone who has a post-graduate degree or is
interested in getting a post-graduate degree, is suspect! Also be
warned, Wiccans , Vegans, Yogists, and readers of science fiction are
either Atheists or on the road to becoming an Atheist. Our job as True
Christians™ is to use this loophole of time under the current Bush
Administration to get as many of these God-haters arrested as we can
before they do more damage to our country than they already have.
5. Atheists are afraid. Even though there are as many as 300 active
Atheists in the United Kingdom, we can safely assume that if recent polls
are correct, most Atheists are afraid to come out and say what they don't
believe. It's your job to pull it out of them. Put them on the spot.
Hound them at restaurants and on cruise ships. Don't take "I'd rather not
talk about religion" as a answer. Give them one last chance to save their
sorry souls. Then, call the police.

Ah! Are you, then, a Sergeant Major? Many, many of them
were very conservative in their praise of me and my
stalwart men and women who plugged in their soldering irons
and VOMs and sallied (even the males) against the enemy
until they no longer could take the pun-ishment and cried
out, "Silliness before Suicide".
These prisoners claimed to have been delegates to the
Republican, Democratic and Geneva conventions and started
claiming "Rights" (one of the Chinese prisoners was even
claiming "Wongs").
Several of these Prisoners of Dogma (POD People) claimed to
be Marxists and demanded a copy of Duck Soup for their
weekly religious/memorial services.
And - as one of these prisoners mentioned - a Faraday cage
is no protection against a pipe organ with pipes resonating
at 10, 2 and 4 cycles (or Hertz if you're into pain).
The Red Hammer did - indeed - inspect our camp where we
have imprisoned all the peas and pods and the only thing we
had to change was to stop giving them cigarettes because
the people from the Red Hammer claimed we were using them
to kill the prisoners.
Because it was an all-male group, we suspect they are from
the "Conservative Crogglement" and had been planiing to
ambush the "Liberal Horde" because - being, of course,
uneducated - they thought it was the "Liberal Whores" (or
as the CC's spell it, the "Librul Hores").
