I use babelfish to troll French newsgroups, because I donīt want to

Anyone who wants to troll the French should use babelfish, too, to

Next week Iīll the troll the fat and ugly Germans with Babelfish, a

And if you use babelfish to translate your english into french for
posting, it's a good bet that they think you're retarded.

Even if the translation were good! Perhaps especially.
(Which it isn't with Babblefish. I still prefer an 8-year-old Global
Translator, being used to its silly quirks.)
But, Forsooth, Yeoman! You speak the Queen's English all you want. Making
fun of the French language is just white-trash ignorant when about one
word in three of English is French-derived.
On the other hand, making fun of the French is, of course, always fair
game as it is always fair game for them to do the same to us -- as long as
it is a game. There are only a very few nations we share more culture and
history with, so our current hissy-fit with the nation is truly juvenile.

You sure about that? If you are not paying attention and hear French it is
obviously a foreign (to Enflish speakers) language. When I hear German on
the other hand I always get the impression that if I pay a bit more
attention I'll understand it. Of course as soon as I do pay attention it
also is foreign.

Well, them boys is _way_ easterners. Yes, the pronounciation is
distinctly alien but looking at the written language, it doesn't take much
to meet it half-way.

We have a different ear. I took a year of German in high school because
it was all that was offered but I never warmed to it. One in three is a
figure I vaguely remember reading but that leaves 2/3 for teutonic and
celtic languages (and Greek and Latin-derived technical terms). So, sure,
a lot of German too.
If you want to see a real combo of English syntax holding together
Germanic words, take a look at Afrikaans.

Indeed. Of course, they have the Brits next door so I think they only
give us half the attention we give them.
