Come on, they didn't believe Jesus of Nazareth save a few; He was
crucified for His troubles. Joseph and Hyrum Smith themselves died
martyrs, and it took the Mormons less than 100 years to totally apostatize.

despise Brigham Young and Art Bulla.

As a devout Mormon in New York high society, Kristina Stewart Ward
felt torn between two worlds--until she realized she didn't have to

i feel like a bad Mormon. Last month I hired a nanny, and I feel as though
I've failed a little. My son is a toddler. I'm eight months pregnant and
working from home as a journalist. To my Upper East Side friends--most of
whom average one nanny per child (no, really: one child, one nanny; two
children, two nannies, and so on)--this sounds like reason enough to hire
outside assistance. But then I compare myself with Mormon friends who are
raising perfectly mannered, well-groomed families of six kids without
live-in help. I come from an invisible minority of women whose ability to
tend to large broods has become the stuff of legend--now more than ever with
Mormon Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney showing up his chief
rival (the family-embattled Rudy Giuliani) with Ann, his telegenic wife of
38 years, and their handsome lineup of five sons. Romney's religion may be
controversial, but the appeal of his large toothy family is undeniable.
I was raised in a southern California Mormon family whose roots in the
religion reach back six generations, but mine was not a traditional path.
Since college I've lived and worked as a society journalist in New York
City, and as big a leap as this was geographically, it was even further
culturally. By the time I did settle down and marry a nice Mormon boy (at
38), I was twice the age of most Mormon brides. Many women eventually tackle
the prickly issue of balancing work and family, but because I grew up
Mormon, my choice was presumed to be a foregone conclusion. Perhaps that's
why I decided early on to fight it.

.... In the kingdom of God on the earth the Affricans cannot hold
one partical of power in Government. ... inasmuch as it is the Lords
will they should receive the spirit of God by Baptisam; and that is the end
of their privilege; and there is not power on earth to give them any more
power. ... Again to the subject before us; as to The men bearing rule; not
one of the children of old Cain, have one partical of right to bear Rule in
Government affairs from first to last, they have no buisness there. this
privilege was taken from them by there own transgressions, and I cannot help
it; and should you or I bear rule we ought to do it with dignity and honour
before God. I am as much oposed to the principle of slavery as any man in
the present acceptation or usage of the term, it is abused. I am opposed to
abuseing that which God has decreed, to take, a blessing, and make a curse
of it. It is a great blessing to the seed of Adam to have the seed of Cain
for servants, but those they serve should use them with all the heart and
feeling, as they would use their own children, and their compassion should
reach over them, and round about them, and treat them as kindly, and with
that humane feeling necessary to be shown to mortall beings of the human
species. ... Let this Church which is called the kingdom of God on the
earth; we will sommons the first presidency, the twelve, the high counsel,
the Bishoprick, and all the elders of Isreal, suppose we summons them
to apear here, and here declare that it is right to mingle our seed, with
the black race of Cain, that they shall come in with with us and be
pertakers with us of all the blessings God has given to us. On that very
day, and hour we should do so, the preisthood is taken from this Church
and kingdom and God leaves us to our fate. The moment we consent to
mingle with the seed of Cain the Church must go to desstruction, -- we
should receive the curse which has been placed upon the seed of Cain,
and never more be numbered with the children of Adam who are heirs to
the priesthood untill that curse be removed. Therefore I will not consent
for one moment to have an african dictate me or any Bren. with regard to
Church or State Government. I may vary in my veiwes from others, and
they may think I am foolish in the things I have spoken, and think that they
know more than I do, but I know I know more than they do. If the Affricans
cannot bear rule in the Church of God, what buisness have they to bear rule
in the State and Government affairs of this Territory or any others? ...

Mormonism is by far the largest of the made-in-America religions. But its
drive for respectability has had a major impediment: Mormon insistence that
blacks could not be priests. The policy was sweeping, because in the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "priesthood" is not a clergy rank but
a status achieved by nearly all male members.
Last week, in a terse letter issued from Salt Lake City, the church's First
Presidency (President Spencer Kimball, 83, and two counselors) declared that
henceforth "all worthy male members of the church may be ordained to the
priesthood without regard for race or color."
It was a historic moment for Mormons, who believe that the prohibition
against blacks as priests goes back as far as the sons of Adam. It is taught
in the Book of Abraham, one of three scriptures revealed to Prophet Joseph
Smith and accepted as holy writ only by Mormons. According to the key verse,
descendants of Cain (identified elsewhere in Mormon scripture as blacks) are
"cursed as pertaining to the priesthood." Because of this the racial bar
could only be lifted by a "revelation" direct from God. The church leaders
said they had spent many hours in the Upper Room of the Salt Lake City
Temple. Eventually God "confirmed that the long-promised day has come."
124 And now as I said concerning your Presidencies, saith the Lord, that if
it should be that they should wholly depart from my counsels unto them, in
the hardness of their hearts, and the blindness of their minds, which thing
hath afflicted almost all of your authorities from the time of Joseph Smith,
that they shall not have power to appoint another in the stead thereof.
125 For there is an end to their priesthood, if they should cause themselves
to be severed from the heavens.
126 And it was that even my servant Joseph did plead long and hard unto me
concerning the manuscript, in the which I did grant unto him that which did
prove to be a snare and a curse instead of a blessing, saith the Lord.
127 And in this day, saith the Lord, them who ye unlawfully sustain as your
Presidencies, did also plead long and hard, even as my servant Joseph, for
that which was not right, and I the Lord God did grant that which should be
a snare unto their souls, ven in these things, yea, even unto their

129 For did I the Lord God not speak through the mouth of my servant as he
known among men, Ezekial, that if the Prophet be deceived when he hath

House of Israel in their own heart, saith the Lord, because they are all
estranged from me through their idols, in the which they do live, saith the
Lord, delisciously with Babylon the Great, and seek even the praise and

ninth verse.For did I the Lord God not also grant unto Israel, through
Samuel, my servant, who saw much affliction because of the wickedness of the
Children of Israel in his days, that they also should have a king like unto

oft was Israel led astray through the wickedness of her kings?

them whom I did not send, they did bow unto the clamor that those who call
themselves Latter-Day-Saints should become in the abominations thereof like
unto all other nations who in their wisdom know not God, and his righteous
decrees concerning the nations and their boundaries and habitations which
were before set by me and councils of the Sons of God before the world was
made, even by them, saith the Lord God of Israel.
134 And it is for this reason that I the Lord God of Israel have raised up
my servant,as he is known among men, Art Bulla, that he shall call down that
which shall destroy mine enemies, even in times of old, yea even that of

The letter did not alter the church's antipathy to interracial marriage or
examine the theological implications of the new policy. For one thing,
Mormons hold that all people possess an unremembered spirit existence
before birth. Discussing black priesthood in 1951, the First Presidency
stated that the church rejects original sin and believes that each
individual is punished in earthly life for his own failings. This implies,
the Presidency said then, that "the Negro is punished or allotted to
a certain position on this earth ... because of his failure to achieve other
stature in the spirit world."
There are fewer than 1,000 blacks among the world's 4 million Latter-day
Saints. Among other privileges, these few black Mormons will now be able to
hold church office and undergo such temple rites as "sealing" their
marriages for eternity and vicariously baptizing their deceased relatives.

that Earth has been warming rapidly, nearly 0.36 degrees Fahrenheit (0.2

Brother Ames has said that "'Mormonism' will progress." If it does not, God
will be dethroned, for when He undertakes to do anything, it will be done,
notwithstanding every opposing influence. When the wicked have power to
blow out the sun, that it shines no more; when they have power to bring to a
conclusion the operations of the elements, suspend the whole system of
nature, and make a footstool of the throne of the Almighty, they may then
think to check "Mormonism" in its course, and thwart the unalterable
purposes of heaven.

The last couple days in North Carolina have been beautiful, warm enough to
sit in the sun with only a t-shirt and watch the birds prepare for spring. I
love nature, ... I also believe that spending time in nature is a great way
to connect with God and the flow of life and creativity that exists on the
earth. Although my joy this year has been hampered by the sight of the
planes overhead littering the skies with ropey trails and the accompanying
sense of confusion and dismay that other people don't see them, don't care
or don't know.

"It is believed that barium salt, polymer fibers and other chemicals, in the
atmosphere are the physical irritants that are either directly or indirectly
responsible, for the recent epidemic increase in cases of nose bleed,
asthma, allergies, pneumonia, upper respiratory symptoms and a noticeable
increase in arthritis symptoms, recently reported nationwide. Chemicals
illegally sprayed into the atmosphere are producing atmospheric and ground
conditions detrimental to human and animal health but favorable to the
growth of harmful molds and fungus. These conditions are not conducive to
good health. The soluble salts of barium, an earth metal, are toxic in
mammalian systems. They are absorbed rapidly from the gastrointestinal tract
and are deposited in the muscles, lungs, and bone. No case data is available
from the medical community on the long term effects of barium in the human

So, now we know and it is as much as we suspected, so I guess the question
becomes, what next? As I enjoyed the fine southern weather the last couple
days and watched planes, sometimes five at a time, leave their trails across
the sky, I heard we were expecting a terribly violent storm and I wondered,
why doesn't everyone see the pattern?

This is a time in history in which neutrality is not an option, certainly
for those of you that know better. Each one of you must take either God's
side or the devil's. This is not some Dark Age-Europe or some remote
countryside in China. Ye are given your agencies to choose between Light
and Darkness but not compelled by God to choose the former.
The question is, Love ye the truth? I declare these things in the name of
Messiah.
