Hey, people -

What's wrong with this? It means that a lot of energy is wasted in
hating a lot of ideas that don't matter anyway. And hatred is a bad
thing, is counterproductive, has a downward spiral and makes people
sick.
Take as an example the recent decision that it's nobody's business
what people do vis-a-vis enjoying sex in their own bedroom, even if
it's same sex.
Well, I don't support same sex. But I'm against the efforts to ban it.
Did you get that? Right, it's NOT my style, sexually. But it's not my
neighbors business what I do, and it's not my business what they do.
As long as I'm allowed my hetero, I'm content.
Can you see the subtle difference there?
How about equal rights? The transition from favored to equal IS NOT a
denial of tights.
Here's the story:
How about three options? support it, resist it, or leave it alone?
You see, if your neighbor is homosexual, how does that really affect
you? Does it devalue your property value? Does it make you pay more
taxes?
You aren't endorsing gay sex by leaving it alone.
Here's the link to atheism: many christians say we chased god out of
the school and that's why we have crime. All we did was to allow for
people of other faiths to practice their own, recognize the atheists
right to not to, and avoid state sponsored religious teaching.
But the christians see this as an attack - a denial of their rights.
Well, making the christians equal, not favored, is NOT denying them
any rights.
Ok, to make it simple: Do you either like or dislike others? Or are
you capable of liking people you agree with and letting the others
alone without defaulting them to enemy status?
What do you think?

It sounds harsh, but most people are simply too stupid to make the
distinction. And since politics and tv always have to cater for the
lowest common denominator, they dumb it down for the stupidest 50% of
the nation.

I must agree with that. Sometimes I think tv is deliberately used to
try to dumb us down, to try to make us susceptible to the codswallop
from candidates.
I stopped watching tv years ago, too little good material for the cost
(unless one is into sports which I am not). But we have one in the
break room at work, and once in a while I'm chagrinned at the s--t on
that dratted crt.

They don't HAVE to do that, they choose to. Many of the richest
and most powerful people prefer it if the masses remain stupid.
How to make people stupid? Tell them over and over again that
they have a right to their own opinion - even if that opinion is
based on ignorance. When people are full of useless opinions they
will lose gradually the ability to think straight and will avoid
anything which sounds complicated. They will then be easier to
manipulate.
Most young children have no problem saying that they do not
understand something. And they rarely have an opinion on what
anybody should do unless it affects them personably. It takes a
lot of work to turn these children into stupid, gullible,
opinionated adults.
