Little ones are so impressionable. I have been thinking of Muslims.
They have been taught since birth that Jesus is not the Son of God, it
has been pounded into their heads as little children, and as adults
they will swear and believe 100% that Jesus is not the Son of God.

That's funny. Somewhere in Saudi Arabia today, someone is thanking
Muhammad that they weren't born in the west and brainwashed into the
cult of the false god called Jesus.

If you or I were born into a Muslim family in Iraq, Egypt, Iran...the
middle east, most likely, we would not believe Jesus is the Son of God
either. I cannot blame them for believing their mama's and daddy's, and
I would not punish them. If I were to judge Muslims...I would not
sentence them to eternal torment for being brainwashed. I would be very
merciful.
I think our Father in heaven will be too.

What if you're both wrong? Will Vishnu be ready to accept Christians
and Muslims after failing to follow his laws?

As it is that Jesus has the keys to the grave, and calls ALL men from
the grave, and that ALL men will confess that Jesus is the Son of God.

I cannot help but notice that you have not explained how this will
happen. Brain waves? ESP? A bases loaded home run in the ninth inning?
They consider YOU brainwashed.

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me."...and so be it...Lord have mercy!... on those
who tried to please Him, who will surely stand before the LORD and say
either: "You called me from my grave, you are the Son of God, have
mercy on me"...or, "You have called me from my grave, you are the Son
of God, but I don't want nothing to do with you Jesus".

Is English your native language? That sentence made no sense at all.

Of course they think we are brainwashed into believing that Jesus is
the Son of God and that He rose from the dead. But we Christians do
have something more, a gospel more divine and full of miracles...

The bible was slowly written over two hundred years, and wasn't even
started until a hundred years after Jesus died. It's full of miracles
because no one could remember what really happened. Half of it was
thrown out by the Church fathers during the First Council of Nicea.

More divine, because Jesus claimed to be the Son of God,

I claim to be the King of Palistine, and commander of the Starship
Enterprise. Does that mean that I am?

Muhammed did
not.

Maybe he wasn't crazy.

A voice was heard born from heaven that said "This is my beloved
Son", in our gospel, God said He had a Son.

Your gospel is faulty.

Muhammed did not claim to
be the Son of God, nor was a voice born from heaven claiming Muhammed
as God's beloved, Muhammed even claiming that God said He has no son.

More miraculous, because it is written that Jesus rose from the dead.

I have a book where it is written that a man rode to heaven on a winged
horse. It's called the Qu'ran. Islam is more miraculous, because Jesus
never rode a winged horse.

Muhammed is not said to have risen from the dead, but dying in 632 A.D.
More miraculous because of all the miracles Jesus did...raising others
from the dead, healing the blind, the lepers, the cripple...so on.

Benny Hinn faked miracles too. It's the way preachers get stupid people
to give them money.

Now if these major differences were said Mohammedan, I might, we might
even consider their doctrine because of the magnitude, but they were
not said within the Quran. If I were born into a Muslim family being
raised Muslim, im sure I would consider the gospel of Jesus the Messiah
because of the magnitude

I don't think you've met many Muslims. Self-righteous to the core.
Absolutely convinced only they know the truth, and contemptuous of any
other way of thought. Doesn't sound like brainwashing to me-until one
realizes that kind of behavior is common among all religous people.

...but I know brainwashing is a hard washin' to
clean up.

You're certainly displaying your own failure to do so.

One of the major reasons many Muslims cannot accept the Gospel of
Jesus the Christ is because they say "Did God die!?..Jesus was not
God". But as as I see it, as I read it, Jesus was the "Son of God", the
"Word" of God made a flesh "arm" of God. Just as your arm is "you", and
a part of you- "with" you, just as your arm only does what the head
commands...so too was the "Son" "one" with the "Father". Jesus never
said "I am the Father", but "I and my Father are one". Everything I
have said here can be found in the Bible.

Now, now. Considering the odd birth and poor translation of the
original texts please explain why the Bible should be considered as a
reliable source of information.

If you have not considered the magnitude of the gospel of the Son of
God, please consider this gospel presented to mankind more than 500
years before the Quran was written...the gospel of Jesus the Christ.

Here is a little about the name of Jesus:

The name of JESUS is an English translation of the Greek name; IESOUS,
which is
a Greek translation of the Hebrew name; YEHOSHUA, meaning
"Yehovah-saved", a translation

(sigh) Here we go again.
"The Hebrew name for Christians has always been Notzrim. This name is
derived from the Hebrew word neitzer, which means a shoot or sprout--an
obvious Messianic symbol. There were already people called Notzrim at
the time of Rabbi Yehoshua ben Perachyah (c. 100 B.C.E.). Although
modern Christians claim that Christianity only started in the first
century C.E., it is clear that the first century Christians in Israel
considered themselves to be a continuation of the Notzri movement which
had been in existence for about 150 years. One of the most notorious
Notzrim was Yeishu ben Pandeira, also known as Yeishu ha-Notzri.
Talmudic scholars have always maintained that the story of Jesus began
with Yeishu. The Hebrew name for Jesus has always been Yeishu and the
Hebrew for "Jesus the Nazarene" has always been "Yeishu ha-Notzri."
(The name Yeishu is a shortened form of the name Yeishua, not
Yehoshua.) It is important to note that Yeishu ha-Notzri is not an
historical Jesus since modern Christianity denies any connection
between Jesus and Yeishu and moreover, parts of the Jesus myth are
based on other historical people besides Yeishu."

From "Refuting Christian Missionaries", Hayyim ben Yehoshua
of ;YESHUA, meaning "he will save", rooted to; HOSHEA, meaning
"deliverer", and rooted in
meaning to a name of God; YEHOVAH, meaning "the self Existent or
eternal", and the sacred name; YAHH the LORD.

Oh, and before you bring up that Nazarene stuff, please remember that
Nazarath itself was not founded before the 2nd century after Jesus'
death. It is not mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, in Josephus'
"Antiquities of the Jews", or in the Talmud.
"The Christians also claimed that the word "Notzri" means a person from
Nazareth. This is of course false since the original Hebrew for
Nazareth is "Natzrat" and a person from Nazareth is a "Natzrati." The
name "Notzri" lacks the letter tav from "Natzrat" as so it cannot be
derived from it. The Christians argue that perhaps the Aramaic name for
Nazareth was "Natzarah" or "Natzirah" (like the modern Arabic name)
which explains the missing tav in "Notzri." This is also nonsense since
the Aramaic word for a person from Nazareth would then be "Natzaratiya"
or "Natziratiya" (with a tav since the feminine ending "-ah" would
become "-at-" when the suffix "-iya" is added), and besides, the
Aramaic form would not be used in Hebrew. The Christians also came up
with various other arguments which can be dismissed since they confuse
the Hebrew words "Notzri" and "nazir" or ignore the fact that "Notzri"
is the earliest form of the word "Nazarene." "

From "Refuting Christian Missionaries" again
As you may know, my posts tend to be rather lengthy, but to keep it
readable, here is one scripture for you to know:

There is no need to trust a book with so many contradictions. Do you
doubt they exist? OK, how do you get to Heaven. Faith, or Works.

If you want more scripture, let me know...but please be patient, my
internet access is now limited.
...OK, one more : )

No thank you.

May the Lord have mercy on our souls.

Provided you've chosen the right one of course. Might I suggest
something? They can't ALL be right-but they definitely CAN all be
wrong.

A plague of boils has usually sufficed.
But that is a bit old-fashioned.
A plague of Windows?

Hold yer bats and boils and viruses!
I will tell you what I think it means, there is much symbolism to
consider :
1. I was a babe, knew nothing about the Bible.
2. I heard the word BIBLE.
3. I was building a Church.
4. The People are the "Church", not the buildings.
5. I was cutting "fire blocks".
6. My right thigh was cut.
7. The scar is 12".
The wrap:
I was a babe, I just begun attending a Pentecostal [Church]. I only
knew what I was taught, never studied the [Bible] my own self.
Searching the Bible, I found that in the days of ol', Abraham's time,
it was common for one to swear to an oath, or "truth" by placing their
hand under the [right thigh] of an elder while making the pledge. I
found that the Lord Jesus has a name on His thigh that nobody knows.
Jesus is the [foundation] of the "Church", the "Chief Cornerstone".
There are [Twelve] Apostles...So:
The [right thigh] may represent "truth". The body may represent the
Church. I was cutting [fire blocks], they prevent fire from spreading,
the fire blocks may represent spoken words of truth, and the fire may
represent hell. What was taught by Christ and the Twelve Apostles is a
reminder, and they all had their [scar] of service.
About three years ago I began my search for truth. I began to see all
was not as it seemed, all I have been taught. I wondered if I had been
brainwashed by TV preachers, movies, books, pastors, and if they were
brainwashed. I wondered what one would believe if they were to be grow
up alone on a faraway island with nothing to read but the Bible, and
that's all they ever learned about the Bible, right from the Bible...No
TV preachers, no false prophets of doom, no left behind books, no
pulpit puppets...Just the Bible!
So I said to myself, "I will put away all the teachings of men, I will
open my mind to change, I will admit I might be wrong, I am going to
study the Bible and search for truth like Donald Trump searches for
Gold!. I am going to pray for understanding and cry for truth every
single day!"...And that's what I did, for more than 3 1/2 years now.
About seven months ago things really started to click. It was true,
things were not as they seemed. I began to see that what is commonly
taught in the Christian Churches is not was is written in the Bible. (
But many really love the Lord, Lord have mercy.)
Now, I know you atheists don't believe all this Bible talk, so maybe
you have never been exposed to false teachings, maybe you are like that
man on a deserted island, that would make you the best Bible students
of all!
Here's what I would like to do, I would like to ask for you to try to
give an unbiased opinion. I know you don't believe what is written in
the Bible, but just for the sake of reasoning, just for a moment, to
hear that person on that deserted island... Please tell us what you
think this scripture says. Please just share how you would reason this
if this is all you ever heard or read concerning a thousand years, and
it is the only verse that speaks of a thousand year reign :
Rev 20:4-6 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to
whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of
those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word
of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not
received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life
and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did
not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first
resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first
resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a
thousand years.
--
--
Now this one:
Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to
show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it
known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to
the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that
he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy,
and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for
the time is near.
I do not even have to uppercase the importand details with you, do I!
"Thank is", I mean "thank you" if you obliged : )
Ps..I was wondering, How many of you atheists were born into a
household that did not believe in God?

Snip to point of contention..

Now, I know you atheists don't believe all this Bible talk, so maybe
you have never been exposed to false teachings, maybe you are like that
man on a deserted island, that would make you the best Bible students
of all!

I have a distinct feeling you're about to find out.

Revelations' original form was a document written in approximately 95
CE (A. Its original title is "The Apocolypse of John". It was written
by an anonymous Christian using John as a pseudonym. It seems to be
based on an older (ca. 70 CE) Jewish document.
http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/revelation.html
http://www.geocities.com/b_d_muller/rjohn.html

Now this one:

Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to
show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it
known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to
the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that
he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy,
and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for
the time is near.

Neither passage is meaningful to a modern human, other than as an
anthropological study.
Revelations is a document written in the apocalyptic literary style.
Such stories were not intended as literal interpretations, but as an
attempt to solve the difficulties connected with the "righteousness of
god" and how that god's followers were persecuted in their own
communities.

I do not even have to uppercase the importand details with you, do I!

It is the ravings of an angry man, disappointed at the failure of his
theology. Please recall that Christianity was the minority religion in
the 1st century. He's "grasping at straws" because no one believes what
he does.

"Thank is", I mean "thank you" if you obliged : )

You're welcome.

Ps..I was wondering, How many of you atheists were born into a
household that did not believe in God

Big misconception that people don't believe in xianity because they've
never been exposed to it. That being said, it's more common to have
been born to atheist parents in Europe & Asia than in the US (the only
country with indoor plumbing where people are still religious).
As for me-raised Southern Baptist. Outgrew it..<g>

I will tell you what I think it means, there is much symbolism to
consider :

Most people seem to seek symbolism. I don't know why, when there is so
much mystery in the world *without* creating them.

1. I was a babe, knew nothing about the Bible.
2. I heard the word BIBLE.
3. I was building a Church.
4. The People are the "Church", not the buildings.
5. I was cutting "fire blocks".
6. My right thigh was cut.
7. The scar is 12".

OK, time for a thought experiment. Try this:
1.) I have not worn polyester fabrics since 1973.
2.) There has been no nuclear war since then.
Both true? Yes. Did one cause the other? Doubtful. It's entirely
possible that sometimes an accident is just that-an accident.

And you imagine this to be of some cosmic significance??
Put your shrink on danger money, "babe"!!
***** me. We've got a live one here...

The wrap:

I was a babe, I just begun attending a Pentecostal [Church]. I only
knew what I was taught, never studied the [Bible] my own self.

That much is blindingly obvious, and all too common.

Searching the Bible, I found that in the days of ol', Abraham's time,
it was common for one to swear to an oath, or "truth" by placing their
hand under the [right thigh] of an elder while making the pledge. I

Where does your bible specify this as the "right" thigh?

found that the Lord Jesus has a name on His thigh that nobody knows.

You are delusional.

Bollocks.
You are raving again.

You would believe that killing others is good.
Some trivial examples of blatant errors that you would force yourself
to "believe", to avoid repeating the usual absurdities:
(And as you claim to know so much about the English bible)
You would believe that Abraham had one son, and that he had two sons.
You would believe that Amasa's father was both Ishra AND Jether.
You would believe that the molten sea in Solomon's temple contained
both 2,000 baths, and 3,000 baths.
You would believe that Baasha fought with Judah 10 years after he
died!
You would believe that Jesus was first taken to Caiaphas, and that he
was first taken Annas.
You would be very confuses about your god's requirements for animal
sacrifices and burnt offerings.
You would believe that Enoch was both the 6th and the 7th descendent
from Adam. Not a bad trick.
And so on, and so on, ad nauseum...
Now I am beginning to understand why you appear to be barking mad!

Now, I know you atheists don't believe all this Bible talk, so maybe
you have never been exposed to false teachings, maybe you are like that
man on a deserted island, that would make you the best Bible students
of all!

Most of the posters in alt.atheism know more about your bible than you
seem too.
I have read it through, countless times, in Hebrew, Greek and various
English bastardisations.
I have read what I can find of it in Aramaic.
If you have only been exposed to the English translations, then it is
*you* who have been expose to false teachings, oh schizophrenic child
of a daisy.
When you have read the O.T. in Hebrew, the bits of the N.T. in Greek,
you will be able to question my bible scholarship, and not before.

Unbiased opinion?
Can you handle an unbiased opinion?

Rev 20:4-6 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to
whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of
those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word
of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not
received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life

resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first
resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a
thousand years.

My unbiased opinion:
Baseless psychotic fantasy.
It says nothing beyond what a story by Conan Doyle might say: it is
fiction, and should be treated as such.
Those who consider it as fact, need to check out why they do.
And 12" cuts in a leg is not a rational basis for such, in fact if
this is what you base your personal revelation upon, you need serious
professional psychiatric help.
Straight away.
Oh, and bring a copy of the title to this thread to your psychiatrist.

Title: Re: Brainwashing 02 Apr 2006 11:58:50 PM
I was wrong about a few things and wanted to clear the air.
First off, I said;... "I was cutting [fire blocks], they prevent fire
from spreading, the fire blocks may represent spoken words of truth,
and the fire may represent hell."...
I used the word "hell" loosely. Let me just say "consuming fire"
instead. The English translation "hell" in the KJV is not all it's
cracked up to be, truth is if you were to tell a person back in the
dark ages of England to "GO TO HELL!" , he would probably go to a
cool cellar and bring back some potatoes for dinner. For that is where
they stored potatoes-in hell. If in Jesus time you told a Hebrew
speaker to "GO TO SHEOL!" or a Greek speaker "GO TO HADES!", they would
be highly offended knowing you wanted them to "go to their grave", and
would probably turn quickly and draw their sword.
There is also "geenna", and "tartaroo", and that mysterious "lake of
fire". So let me just say "consuming fire" instead of "hell".
Next, I said;... "Searching the Bible, I found that in the days of
ol', Abraham's time, it was common for one to swear to an oath, or
"truth" by placing their hand under the [right thigh] of an elder while
making the pledge. I found that the Lord Jesus has a name on His thigh
that nobody knows."...
And Never anonymous Bud was right about the "right thigh" reference,
I was wrong. I was going by memory of that study done about 3 years
ago. First off, they did not put their hand under a persons "Right"
thigh, just the thigh. Second, the Lord Jesus has a name on His thigh
that EVERYBODY knows or will know! "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS".
The "right thigh" Bible references have to do with a man with a sword
girded to the right thigh.
Also, I said;..."Now, I know you atheists don't believe all this Bible
talk, so maybe you have never been exposed to false teachings, maybe
you are like that man on a deserted island, that would make you the
best Bible students of all!"
To all the atheists:
I should have said "[maybe] that would make you the best Bible
students of all!" And that's a big maybe, because as an atheist, you
put yourself in God's seat, making yourself up to be God. You sit
yourself in His Temple. But you are no God, but a man. Your feet are on
the Earth (mans mind). Unless you can get your head out of the clouds
of mans heaven (mans mind), you can't enter into God's Heaven (spirit
mind), a Spiritual Kingdom called the Kingdom of God and the Lamb.
Workers of the flesh cannot enter into this SPIRITUAL KINGDOM, but it
can come to you! (if you "change your mind").
To the Witchypoo. The Blues Brothers sing this song...: "Ever heard of
a rubber biscuit... baby? What's a rubber biscuit? That's the kind of
buscuit that if you throw it against a wall, it bounces back, and if it
don't bounce back, you go hungry". I have walked in the land of aahs.
It has great walls. It is the owner of the land that is so great and
makes the land so great, not the man. My hope and prayer for you was
that you will not throw a biscuit after all, that you will think twice
because it might bounce back. If you throw it and repent, that it won't
bounce back, but you will be left hungry. God ( YEHOVAH is His name )
will then fill your basket with His Bread of Life. The Bread of Life
fills the whole house with a sweet aroma and you will never hunger
again.
To William "Billy" T. Goat. I was wrong to say "[I know] you won't
believe this"...Maybe you will, maybe you won't. To assume such a thing
because of a name is wrong. Usually a profile name say's alot about the
person, sometimes it is misleading. I have learned to assume nothing,
and I do not assume God exists, I know it for sure. Many moons ago I
heard the voice of rushing waters, and this year it has filled my
house.
Now the wrap. I know many of you don't believe the God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob exists, you will not believe unless He spoke to you
personally. Well, I hope He speaks to you. Maybe He allready has spoken
to you through the prophets but you just don't believe it because it
didn't shake your house. I hope He doesn't have to shake your house,
because that leaves a scar. Maybe you could just try this: Say "I call
upon you God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If you exist, make yourself
known to me". Say it seven times a day every day you wake up with
breath to say it. I guarantee you will get results.
What have you got to loose?
Now I will leave you all to discuss your Fathers. We all have a
Father, but some just don't know who He is.
Love is the answer, hate is the problem.
"Love is the answer, and you know that for sure"- John Lennon.
Peace. Out.

Have you noticed the ng is attracting literally tons of moonbats,
weirdos, spammers, and trolls in recent times?

LOL - I love moonbats :)

*Especially with sauteed onions!

And yes, I have noticed. Been a bit nuttier than usual if that's actually
possible.

Guess this is what we get for being one of the top four or five text
groups in the alt.* hierarchy...

Think that's it? hmmmm.............

Probably. We have become a very, very visible ng...

WIDE, WIDE RIVER
The Fugs
River of *****
River of *****
Flow on, flow on, river of *****
Right from my toes
On up to my nose
Flow on, flow on, river of *****
I've been swimming
In this river of *****
More than 20 years
And I'm getting tired of it
Don't like swimming
Hope it'll run dry
Got to go on swimming
Cause I don't want to die
Spoken:
Oh I can feel another 1000 years
Of the flapjacks of Sorrow! Unless!
Unless we make 2000 A.D.! 2000 A.D.
Our glorious deadline
A glorious deadline to make the
World a better place!
Or else the flapjacks of sorrow
Are going to slide down our throats
Slide down our throats
For another millenium
Of pain and war and oppression
And all our children's children's children's
Children's children children
Shall have to wade and to swim
In the same grim river
In which we now swim
Sing along with us
Sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing!
(Repeat first verse)
Sighhhhhhhhhh...
Keep swimming.

I have walked in the land of aahs.

makes the land so great, not the man. My hope and prayer for you was
that you will not throw a biscuit after all, that you will think twice
